according to the organizer, a total of 236 people signed up for the beijing-hong kong freshman orientation camp, and 157 participants were finally selected, with the largest number of applicants and participants in history. freshmen accounted for more than 80%, of which hong kong freshmen accounted for about 75%, macau freshmen accounted for about 12%, taiwan freshmen accounted for about 9%, and overseas chinese freshmen also participated. these young students came from 20 different universities in beijing, including peking university, tsinghua university, renmin university of china, and beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics.

feng guoyou, president of the hong kong professionals (beijing) association, told china news service that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the people's republic of china and the 27th anniversary of hong kong's return to the motherland, so holding this orientation camp is particularly meaningful. he hopes that young students will understand and integrate into beijing through the activities and have good development prospects in the future.
tang jingqi, a freshman from hong kong currently studying at beijing jiaotong university, said that the atmosphere of the orientation camp was particularly good and made her feel that beijing would become her "second home". she was looking forward to studying and living here in the future.
chen yutian, a girl from taipei who is currently studying at the communication university of china, said that when she first arrived in beijing, there were many unfamiliar places. through this event, she made friends from different schools and felt more cordial and familiar with beijing.
the closing ceremony of the day also invited relevant personnel from the hong kong special administrative region government office in beijing to introduce their functions to the students present. many representatives and guests from the organizers who attended the event also presented awards to the first, second and third place teams of this year's beijing-hong kong freshman orientation camp.
