in order to promote the sinicization of buddhism and infiltrate buddhism with chinese culture, at 7 pm on september 16, 2024, the dongfangshan buddhist association held a mid-autumn festival gala to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the people's republic of china and the 2024 "full moon and full blessings - spend the mid-autumn festival with moonlight bodhisattva" at dongfangshan honghua zen temple. master zhiyi of ciguang jingshe and master conghui of pumen temple hosted the gala.

great buddhist masters, dharma protectors and people from all walks of life from huangshi and surrounding areas gathered at the dongfangshan medicine buddha temple to celebrate the festival and talk about taoism.

at 7 o'clock in the evening on the 16th, the full moon was high in the sky, its bright light was spreading everywhere, the altar was towering, the canopy was held high, the throne of the moonlight bodhisattva was placed in the center, surrounded by flowers, fragrant moon cakes, curling sandalwood, and lingering buddhist sounds.

the sound of chimes and fish sounds, and the melodious buddhist chants are heard. venerable zhiwei, president of the dongfangshan buddhist association, presides over the moon worship and blessing activities with incense, flowers, lanterns, fruits, and all kinds of wonderful offerings, and devoutly worships the bodhisattva of moonlight.

the scene was filled with solemn and magnificent buddhist chants, and with this merit, we prayed that our motherland would be forever solid, prosperous, peaceful and safe. may the believers from all directions, under the moonlight of the bodhisattva, have clear minds and bodies, bright blessings and wisdom, and all their wishes come true and all their good wishes will be fulfilled.

the ci guang choir's song "spring river moon night" kicked off the "mid-autumn reunion" event, followed by master zhiwei's mid-autumn blessings.

master zhiwei said that the prosperity of a country is the welfare of its people. under the protection of our great motherland, we enjoy peace and tranquility, and can practice with peace of mind, spread the dharma and benefit sentient beings. bright moon, fresh breeze, zen tea, full moon, full blessings, reunion, the temple and everyone have achieved perfection under the moon today. the buddha said that it is like a bright moon, shining on people's troubles and cooling them down. all troubles are born from the heart; all karma is created by the heart. may each of us be like a pure full moon, radiating our own light, and bring beauty and harmony to this world.

in the oriental zen world, the moonlit night brings blessings and happiness to the mid-autumn festival. at the gala tonight, the performers used songs and dances, poetry recitation, musical instrument performances and other forms to integrate the mid-autumn festival, family and country feelings, traditional hanfu elements and buddhist concepts, presenting an audio-visual feast to everyone. the audience cheered and applauded, immersed in it, and felt the charm of traditional culture together.

there is a saying in the buddhist scriptures: "reciting scriptures is a great merit." at the end of the program, under the bright sunlight, the audience followed master fahui's "bell-knocking gāthā" and appreciated the artistic conception of "emitting harmonious and elegant sounds and spreading the dharma sound."
