reference news reported on september 15 according to a report on the qatari al jazeera website on september 14, the uae stated that it would not support israel’s “post-war” plan for gaza unless a palestinian state was established.
uae foreign minister abdullah bin zayed al nahyan posted on the social platform x on the 14th: "the uae is not prepared to support the post-war plan for gaza without the establishment of a palestinian state."
in may, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu published a post-war plan for gaza online, claiming that once the plan is implemented, palestinians "will enjoy unparalleled prosperity". the plan includes investing in ports, solar energy, electric car manufacturing and benefiting from the newly discovered gaza gas fields. the roadmap says that palestinians in gaza will implement the plan under israeli occupation, supervised by a coalition of arab countries, including the uae, saudi arabia, egypt, bahrain, jordan and morocco.
in response, the uae’s foreign minister lashed out at netanyahu, saying he “lacks the legal authority to implement this or similar measures” and made clear that the uae had not been consulted on post-war plans for gaza.
"the uae rejects any involvement in any plan aimed at providing a pretext for israel's presence in the gaza strip," a statement issued by the uae ministry of foreign affairs said.
the statement also said: "if a palestinian government is formed that meets the hopes and aspirations of the brotherly palestinian people and has integrity, capability and independence, the uae will be fully prepared to provide all forms of support to this government." (compiled by liu xiaoyan)
