in early autumn, when hope and harvest come at the same time, we welcome the 40th teachers' day together. forty years of ups and downs, forty years of teaching, teachers are the lamplighters on the earth, lighting the way for countless children like stars, and also opening up a bright future for our nation and country.

one hundred years ago in 1924, in order to explore a new way to save the country, east china normal university, formerly known as daxia university, was established with the lofty ideal of "making china great". in 1951, in response to the call to "train millions of teachers", east china normal university came into being. from the broken old china to the new era of rapid development, from saving the country through education to strengthening the country through education, east china normal university has been committed to promoting the development of the nation and society through education, especially teacher education.

from a mathematics teacher in a rural middle school to the leader of the "qingpu experiment" that promoted a major reform in basic mathematics education across the country, professor gu lingyuan, an alumnus of east china normal university, has been committed to educational reform experiments for nearly half a century. even in his eighties, he is still at the forefront of educational reform. his spirit has inspired generations of educators to stay true to their original aspirations and move forward bravely.

there is also our alumnus mimapando, who has been committed to the education cause in border ethnic areas for nearly 20 years. she firmly believes that "love for students must be sincere, and only true love can cultivate good talents." she constantly innovates educational and teaching methods, watering the snowy plateau with love and wisdom, and illuminating the future of countless children.
