with a long history and continuous culture, zhangjiawan ancient town is an important support for the historical and cultural system of "one river and three cities" in beijing's sub-city center. it is gradually being built into a place where ancient and modern memories meet, a window for displaying canal culture, a node for integrating cultural functions, and a cultural tourism and leisure resort.

as the pace of construction accelerates, rows of neat prefabricated resettlement houses are rising from the ground on the southwest side of zhangjiawan ancient town. the liuxiaocun resettlement housing project, the largest livelihood project under construction in beijing's sub-urban center, has taken root and flourished, supporting the residents' dream of a safe home.

in order to further improve the road network structure of regional external transportation, ensure convenient travel for residents living around resettlement housing, and effectively improve the supply conditions of municipal facilities, the beijing development and reform commission recently approved the project proposal (in lieu of a feasibility study report) for five roads around the resettlement housing in liuxiaocun, including zhangjiawan street in beijing's sub-city center.

zhangjiawan street

the project starts from the west side road of the sixth ring road in the west and ends at zhangcai road in the east. the total length of the road is about 1.26 kilometers. it is the main external transportation and municipal energy channel in the region.

it will be built as a city trunk road, with a red line width of 35 meters and four lanes in both directions; bridge, traffic, lighting, greening, rainwater, sewage, water supply, recycled water and other projects will be implemented simultaneously along the road.

shiyuan street

the project starts from shiyuan west road in the west and ends at shiyuan east road in the east. the total length of the road is about 0.79 kilometers. it is the east-west backbone transportation channel and municipal energy channel in the region.

it will be built as a city trunk road, with a red line width of 50 meters and six lanes in both directions; traffic, lighting, greening, rainwater, sewage, water supply, recycled water and other projects will be implemented simultaneously along the road.

shiyuan west road

the project starts from shiyuan street in the south and ends at zhangjiawan street in the north. the total length of the road is about 0.45 kilometers. it is a north-south travel channel and municipal energy channel in the region.

according to the construction of urban secondary roads, the red line width is 35 meters, with four lanes in both directions; traffic, lighting, greening, rainwater, water supply, recycled water and other projects are implemented simultaneously along the road.

shiyuan south street

the project starts from shiyuan street in the west and ends at the west bank of liangshui river in the east. the total length of the road is about 1.1 kilometers. it is an important east-west passage and municipal energy passage for the resettlement housing of liuxiao village.

it is built according to the standards of urban secondary trunk roads, with a red line width of 35 meters and four lanes in both directions; traffic, lighting, greening, rainwater, water supply, recycled water and other projects are implemented simultaneously along the road.

shiyuanzhong 2nd road

the project starts from shiyuan south street in the south and ends at zhangjiawan street in the north. the total length of the road is about 0.77 kilometers. it is the main north-south traffic channel in the area and also an important municipal energy channel in the region.

it is built as a secondary urban road with a red line width of 30 meters and four lanes in both directions. traffic, lighting, greening, rainwater, sewage, water supply and other projects are implemented simultaneously along the road.

the development and reform commission learned that the above projects are expected to be completed and put into use in june 2025.

weaving a dense three-dimensional transportation network to support the "hard framework" of development

the above five projects have been included in the "2024 beijing urban sub-center major project action plan". after completion, they will:

promote the formation of a road network framework that is smooth internally and connected externally, efficient and convenient, further connect key areas such as the universal studios cultural and tourism zone, zhangjiawan ancient town and design town, comprehensively improve the region's external traffic capacity, and optimize the road network system of the urban sub-center; at the same time, strengthen the regional municipal guarantee capabilities to fully meet the travel needs of surrounding residents.
