"before, many street vendors set up stalls to sell vegetables on the roadside. when i sent my children to school in the morning, i always encountered road blockage. now they are all managed together, the road is unblocked, and it is convenient to buy vegetables after sending the children." previously, many residents reported to 12345 that street vendors would occasionally occupy the road around some schools in gulou street, miyun district, affecting traffic. after the start of the autumn semester this year, the situation has been significantly improved. it all started with the establishment of a buffer zone for self-produced vegetables in gulou street.

gulou subdistrict is located in the center of miyun city, with a total population of nearly 200,000 and adjacent to many towns. in late summer and early autumn, the fruits and vegetables grown on a small scale by villagers in the surrounding towns will be harvested one after another. zhao wei, deputy director of the gulou subdistrict office, said: "the scale of self-produced vegetables grown by villagers is relatively small. they can't eat them all, but they don't have the volume to purchase on a large scale, so they carry their loads to the city to sell. the areas where they set up stalls are mostly schools and hospitals where people and traffic are relatively concentrated. on the one hand, these agricultural products are indeed favored by urban residents, but on the other hand, these vendors' stalls have also brought a lot of impact on the surrounding traffic and environmental order."

in order to resolve the contradiction between transportation and agricultural product sales, gulou street has set up a number of self-produced vegetable buffer zones in its jurisdiction since august this year, providing more than 600 stalls free of charge to surrounding villagers. while opening up a green sales channel for surrounding villagers, it also effectively alleviated the impact of mobile operations on transportation and the environment.

a buffer zone for self-produced vegetables is set up in the parking lot of wumart supermarket on gulou street.

it is understood that as of now, gulou street has set up three types of buffer zones: the first type is located in the residential area, combined with the convenience service fair, and is open for a limited time; the second type is set up in the parking lots of some merchants, surrounded by several schools and kindergartens, and is open from 6 am to 8:30 am every day; the third type is open around the clock in the xinggong market and golden harbor market.

"when street staff encounter vendors selling agricultural products during their daily patrols and inspections, they will inform them of the buffer zone information and guide them to compliant locations to sell their agricultural products." zhao wei said that miyun district is rich in various agricultural products, including cucumbers, tomatoes and grapes in summer and apples, pears, walnuts and chestnuts in autumn. therefore, it is expected that the buffer zone will be open from late summer to late autumn this year.
