miu miu is pleased to invite argentinian director laura citarella to direct the 28th film in the miu miu "women's tales" short film series, "el affaire miu miu".

born in la plata, argentina in 1981, laura citarella is active in the argentine film industry as a director and producer. since 2005, she has been an important member of the independent production organization el pampero cine, which has been actively exploring not only the aesthetic level but also boldly experimenting in the production and projection of films over the past 20 years.

miu miu's acclaimed "women's stories" series of short films features many of today's most influential and original female directors, exploring the vanity and essence of women in the 21st century.

an italian model sets foot on the pampas of argentina in latin america to shoot a advertising campaign.

an italian film crew crisscrosses the city streets, making a noise like the queen's entourage. exotic and beautiful models greet passers-by who stop to admire them. a few days later, the town's female detectives begin investigating a missing person case: a model mysteriously disappeared after the photoshoot. the last surveillance footage shows her running mysteriously through the streets of trenclawken. the detectives follow the clues in miu miu clothing and the argentine landscape to track down the model.

in el affaire miu miu, citarella continues to explore her favorite "female sherlock holmes" image - these characters try and successfully solve the mystery of "women who run away for various reasons." when talking about the role of miu miu clothing in the film, she said frankly: "i need to learn how to present clothing through the lens. to find the point of convergence between fashion and narrative, to integrate the dreamy grassland scenery with the miu miu world, and let the clothing become the protagonist of the story." director citarella is good at long narratives, and especially likes to give the detective character enough time to solve the case, but she said: "the key is that the story needs to be told at an appropriate time rhythm."

miu miu's latest short film "women's stories" depicts a female-driven, intelligent hitchcockian detective story. in "el affaire miu miu", we witness the fusion of italian style and argentinian supernaturalism. laura citarella has a special liking for female characters who are "adventurous", and this sentiment resonates with the macro narrative of miu miu's female image spokesperson. along the way, the detectives find fragments of her dress in the countryside, and the audience watches the model cross the grassland and gradually blend into the natural landscape, as if she is the embodiment of the landscape. characters, costumes and scenes are intertwined and symbiotic.

"el affaire miu miu" will premiere at the venice international film festival "venice night" (giornate degli autori) at 4:30 pm on august 31, 2024, and director chen cuimei's 27th short film "i am the beauty of your beauty, i am the fear of your fear" will be screened together.
