the 13th china international steel conference was held in shanghai yesterday (2nd). relevant officials of the china iron and steel association introduced at the meeting that my country's steel industry has made new progress in ultra-low emission transformation, and 620 million tons of crude steel production capacity has been transformed.

the latest data shows that as of august 13, a total of 146 steel companies in my country with 620 million tons of crude steel production capacity have completed ultra-low emission transformation.

in order to accelerate the green and low-carbon development of the steel industry, my country has proposed eight world-leading low-carbon technology development support plans. currently, a total of 60 low-carbon technology innovation projects of 22 steel companies are being promoted.

in the first half of this year, the total energy consumption of my country's key steel enterprises decreased by 1.8% year-on-year, and the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel decreased by 0.16% year-on-year. the energy consumption of major processes such as ironmaking, steelmaking, and steel rolling all showed a downward trend.

jiang wei, vice president and secretary general of china iron and steel association:the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel produced by my country's key steel enterprises has dropped from 694 kg of standard coal in 2005 to 557 kg of standard coal. the reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions has reached 92.6%, and the reduction in smoke and dust emissions has reached 88.5%. it can be said that the green revolution in the steel industry has achieved the expected results.
