with the word "人", a new chapter of life is opened. the opening ceremony of the pen is commonly known as "breaking the dream". it is a form of enlightenment education for middle school children to learn to read and learn etiquette in traditional chinese culture. it is known as one of the four major ceremonies in life. on august 30, yuexiu district, guangzhou city held the opening ceremony for the first grade of primary school in 2024 at panyu xuegong (in the memorial hall of the agricultural lecture hall). this year also marks the 10th anniversary of the in-depth development of the "yuexiu opening ceremony" event brand.
at the event, the first-grade students of guangzhou manchu primary school, wearing distinctive school uniforms, completed ten ceremonies under the guidance of their teachers, including the parade to enter school, getting dressed and learning etiquette, respecting parents and teachers, enlightenment, swearing an oath to express their aspirations, beating drums to forge ahead, students' first lesson, famous teachers writing, awarding certificates at the end of the ceremony, and letting their dreams fly.
the activity invited famous teachers with high moral character to teach students how to write the character “人” (person). every stroke not only conveyed calligraphy skills, but also expressed the earnest hope that the children would become upright and virtuous people.
"panyu academy was known as the 'no. 1 academy in lingnan' during the ming and qing dynasties, where students studied hard and passed the imperial examinations. comrade mao zedong hosted the sixth peasant movement training institute here and trained a large number of talents for the chinese revolution. today, our yuexiu students are starting to learn and open their wisdom in the panyu academy, which has both historical charm and red cultural genes." bai ruying, principal of guangzhou manchu primary school, encouraged the children to study hard and insist on the all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor in the first class.
the relevant person in charge of the office of spiritual civilization construction of yuexiu district said that holding the opening ceremony at panyu xuegong is an important inheritance of lingnan culture. since 2004, yuexiu district and the memorial hall of the agricultural lecture hall have begun to explore the practical activities of the opening ceremony for freshmen under the new situation. in 2015, yuexiu district took the lead in guangzhou to fully launch the opening ceremony for first-grade freshmen in primary schools, and set up the main venue for the opening ceremony at panyu xuegong. invite well-respected famous teachers and principals to open the pen for freshmen and write the word "人", which means that students should be upright people. according to reports, in 2024, more than 14,000 first-grade freshmen in yuexiu district will participate in the opening ceremony of their respective schools.
