Recently, a netizen posted a report, saying that on the afternoon of August 20, a 6-year-old boy in Cangnan County, Zhejiang Province, had a fever and received an IV drip at a local health center. After returning home, he felt unwell and was rushed to the hospital, but ultimately died. On the afternoon of August 26, the child's father, Mr. Su, told Modern Express that they believed that the health center had irregularities in its treatment and was suspected of "tampering with medical records." A staff member of the Cangnan County Health and Health Bureau said that the matter is currently under investigation.
Feeling uncomfortable during the infusion
On the afternoon of August 26, Modern Express reporter contacted the child's father, Mr. Su. Mr. Su told reporters that on August 20, his child's fever reached 37.5℃. At about 3:30 pm that day, his grandparents took him to the local Qianku Town Central Hospital for medical treatment. After two hours of infusion, he returned home. At around 8 pm that night, the child was rushed to Cangnan County Third People's Hospital for emergency treatment and was pronounced dead at 10:30 pm.

"Although the child was conscious during the infusion, he felt severe discomfort and his whole body was limp." Mr. Su said that during the infusion, the child's grandparents reported the situation to the medical staff of the health center, but the medical staff said "it's okay" and did not take it seriously. After two hours of infusion, the child returned home, but his discomfort symptoms did not improve. "We noticed something was wrong and rushed him to Cangnan Third Hospital for emergency treatment." After more than an hour of rescue, Mr. Su's son eventually died.
The medical records provided by Mr. Su show that the infusion drugs prescribed by the hospital include sodium ceftriaxone for injection, glucose injection, vitamin B6 injection, etc. Mr. Su said that before the child was injected, the hospital did not conduct a "skin test" or other notification behavior.
Family members questioned the hospital's "tampering" of medical records
"At that time, the leader of Qianku Town Central Hospital assured me in front of the town leaders that the medical records were authentic. But when I took them and looked at them carefully, I found that the time of the consultations did not match at all." Mr. Su believes that Qianku Town Central Hospital also had problems with medical irregularities in the process of treating the child's fever and giving him intravenous fluids. He said that when he inquired about the situation from the hospital, he found that the hospital had obvious "suspicions of tampering" in the medical records.
△The medical records provided by Qianku Town Central Hospital show inconsistencies in the time of consultation.
According to the photos provided by Mr. Su, the first medical record provided by Qianku Town Central Hospital showed that the child's visit time was 15:30 on August 20, and the examination result was noted as "clear breath sounds in both lungs"; but the second medical record provided by the hospital showed that the boy's visit time was 22:28 on August 20, and the medical record provided by Cangnan County Third People's Hospital showed that this time was actually the time of death of Mr. Su's child. In addition, the examination result on the second medical record also changed to "coarse breath sounds in both lungs", and added "accompanied by nausea and vomiting, vomiting once with gastric contents" and other content.
Local health department: has intervened in the investigation
Mr. Su said that the specific cause of the child's death is still unclear, but he and his family agree to an autopsy and have agreed on a time with the judicial appraisal department.
On the afternoon of August 26, a Modern Express reporter contacted the Cangnan County Health and Family Planning Bureau by phone. The staff of the Health and Family Planning Bureau said that they had indeed received a report on the matter and the Medical Administration Department had intervened in the investigation. The reporter then contacted the Qianku Town Central Hospital and Cangnan County Third People's Hospital respectively. No one answered the phone at the Qianku Town Central Hospital. The staff of the outpatient department of Cangnan Third People's Hospital said that they were not clear about the specific situation and had not received any notification from the relevant supervisory and law enforcement departments.
Modern Express reporters will continue to follow up on this matter.
