Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, April 9 (Reporters Lv Yingxu and Wang Zhuo Lun) Israeli Foreign Minister Katz announced on the 9th that he would take countermeasures against Turkey's sanctions.
Katz issued a statement on the same day saying that Israel would not tolerate Turkey's "unilateral violation of the trade agreement" and would implement equal countermeasures against Turkey.
The Turkish Ministry of Trade said in a statement on the 9th that Turkey will impose export restrictions on 54 products to Israel from that day, including cement, steel and building materials. The statement said that this decision will remain in effect until Israel declares a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and allows relief supplies to continue to enter the Gaza Strip.
Israeli media reported on the 8th, citing Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan, that Israel has rejected Turkey's request to airdrop relief supplies to the Gaza Strip. In response, Turkey will take measures against Israel.
According to data released by the health department of the Gaza Strip on the 9th, since the outbreak of a new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October last year, Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip have caused more than 33,300 deaths and about 75,000 injuries. The United Nations warned that at least a quarter of the population in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of famine. If timely actions are not taken, large-scale famine is "almost inevitable." Recently, many countries including Jordan and Egypt have airdropped relief supplies to the Gaza Strip. (End)
