China News Service, Beijing, August 24 (Reporter Wang Enbo) China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced on the 24th that China's first 100 billion cubic meter large gas field in Bohai Sea, the Bohai 19-6 gas field, has produced a total of more than 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, effectively ensuring the gas demand in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Bohai Rim region.

The Bohai 19-6 gas field is located in the central waters of the Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of about 20 meters. It has proven geological reserves of natural gas exceeding 200 billion cubic meters and proven geological reserves of oil exceeding 200 million cubic meters. It is the first large-scale, fully-equipped 100 billion cubic meter gas field in eastern China.

The gas field test area and the first phase development project were put into production in October 2020 and November 2023 respectively. Currently, six offshore oil and gas platforms have been built, with a peak daily output of 2.4 million cubic meters of natural gas, and capacity construction has entered a rapid growth stage.

Cheng Qi, a senior development geologist at CNOOC Bohai Petroleum Research Institute, introduced that the oil and gas of Bohai 19-6 gas field are buried in a submerged hill reservoir with a depth of more than 5,000 meters. The average depth of the development wells is 5,598 meters. There are as many as 20 ultra-deep wells with a depth of more than 6,000 meters, and the deepest is 6,494 meters, which places extremely high demands on exploration and development engineering technology.

At present, two ultra-deep wells have been successfully drilled in the Bozhong 19-6 gas field. The formation temperature exceeds 180 degrees Celsius, the bottom hole pressure reaches 56 MPa, and the oil and gas are stored in cracks that are only 0.01 to 0.1 mm wide, which is equivalent to extracting oil and gas from a hair.

Zhang Chunsheng, deputy general manager of CNOOC Tianjin Branch, said that at this stage, the development of Bozhong 19-6 gas field has entered a critical period of oil and gas production. With the steady progress of the project construction, researchers have further deepened their understanding of the distribution law of gas field reservoirs and the geological characteristics of oil reservoirs, which has important practical significance for the safe and efficient development of subsequent gas fields and will effectively promote the large-scale development of large oil and gas resources in the ultra-deep field of the Bohai Sea.
