Receive coffee, pick up apples, make pancakes... humanoid robots attracted much attention at the 2024 World Robot Conference.

At the same time, Fu Sheng, chairman and CEO of Cheetah Mobile and chairman of Orion Star, accepted an exclusive interview with Beijing News Shell Finance at the conference and expressed his pessimism about bipedal robots. He believed that such robots "can be developed", but they would not be able to be truly commercialized within three to five years. "Stability and cost are the core issues for their implementation."

"Robots don't have to look like humans," said Fu Sheng. In his vision, the mainstream form of robots in the future will be: a wheel, an arm, plus interactive voice and a screen.

The robotics industry lacks a scenario that is really good enough

Shell Finance:In your opinion, how should AI (artificial intelligence) big models empower robots, and what skills are most likely to be empowered and improved?

Fu Sheng:The big model is a module that has its own logic and reasoning ability based on the understanding of the world after language learning. One of the great empowerments it brings to robots is that it can become a brain. Previous robots essentially had no brains and were more of automated machines. First of all, the big model will improve the robot's ability to make autonomous decisions. After the robot has a brain, and the brain's knowledge level is not bad, it will greatly improve various capabilities, such as explanation interaction and task processing. In the long run, robots will really participate in some labor, such as adding a robotic arm to the robot and letting it help you bring a glass of water. These should be able to be commercialized soon.
