At the end of February, Skoda announced through its official website that it would launch an entry-level SUV model for the Indian market and released the design sketch of the car at the same time. However, the manufacturer did not announce the name of the car at that time, but provided as many as 7 names for local people to vote. Recently, Skoda also officially confirmed that "Kylaq" stood out among many car names. The manufacturer also mentioned that a total of more than 200,000 people participated in the event. Kylaq comes from Sanskrit and means crystal. Kylaq will also be officially released in the first half of 2025.

Skoda uses the naming convention of starting with K and ending with q for fuel SUVs, and all other car names participating in the vote also conform to this convention. The final result is "Kylaq" as the name of this new SUV; however, the manufacturer has not released much information about Kylaq, and the appearance of the vehicle is currently shown in sketches. It can be seen that Kylaq has slender LED headlights with large air holes. At the same time, from the sketch, it is equipped with digital rearview mirrors. However, whether the subsequent mass-produced models will maintain this setting remains to be revealed. The rear of the car adopts a taillight shape similar to an inverted L, and the English word Skoda is also presented in the middle.

According to information obtained by foreign media, the length of Kylaq is expected to be less than 4 meters, which will be the smallest model of the brand. It will be smaller than the Kushaq and Fabia, which are also exclusive to India, and even the pure electric car Epiq released previously. At the same time, Kylaq will also be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Models using this platform architecture also include Skoda Slavia Kusha, Volkswagen Virtus and Tiguan, etc. It is expected to use a 1.0 TSI turbo three-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual or automatic options, and front-wheel drive with 113 horsepower, but the exact power specifications and data are still to be announced by the manufacturer.

Kylaq is expected to be officially released in the first half of 2025, and it is not yet known whether it will enter other countries.
