Volvo announced on its official website for the first time that it will hold a 90/90 Day brand press conference on September 4, 2024. The two 90s represent Volvo's XC90 large SUV with a long sales history, and the new generation pure electric flagship SUV EX90 which was just launched in November 2022. On the day of the press conference, Volvo CEO Jim Rowan and others will introduce the significantly updated XC90 series and the important moment of the EX90 series. It is also announced that the press conference may bring additional surprises.

At the same time, Volvo also released the preview image of the 90/90 Day brand press conference for the first time. The image shows part of the front of two cars. Judging from the appearance features of the LED headlights and daytime running lights, it can be inferred that one of them is the current EX90 series, and the other may be the facelifted XC90 series. In addition to the T-shaped LED daytime running lights inside the headlights, which the manufacturer calls Thor's Hammer, there are also obvious updates to the hood and LED headlights. The manufacturer emphasized that it is a major update, which means that it is still based on the current XC90 series for changes, rather than a major facelift model.

According to foreign media reports, the facelifted XC90 series is expected to continue the design concept of the EX90, with the new generation brand family design elements that started with the EX90 series being introduced at the front and rear. At the same time, Volvo also added the word "Hybrid" in front of the facelifted XC90 series in the new car preview information, indicating that it will adopt a hybrid power configuration. However, based on the current power specifications of the XC90 series, it already has 48V mild hybrid and PHEV plug-in hybrid power. Whether the facelifted XC90 series will continue the current power architecture or further update the hybrid power, there is currently no clear specification information.
