"Tiangong" achieved the world's first full-size pure electric humanoid robot to run anthropomorphically and then showed new skills. Walker S Lite has entered the smart car factory for practical training. The world's first orthopedic surgery robot equipped with artificial intelligence deep learning technology was released for the first time. Soft robots broke through the bottleneck in the field of industrial applications...
On August 21, the 2024 World Robot Conference opened in Yizhuang, Beijing. More than 10 first-time innovative products were unveiled in Yizhuang, Beijing, and humanoid robots became the focus.

The running "Tiangong" becomes a star robot
Dancing, bowing, saying hello, grabbing things by listening to sounds...the country's first general-purpose robot mother platform "Tiangong" demonstrated its new skills at the Robot Conference.
The developer of "Tiangong" is Beijing Embodied Intelligent Robot Innovation Center. Unlike ordinary humanoid robots, when it debuted four months ago, "Tiangong" had the ability to trot steadily, reaching a speed of 6 kilometers per hour, achieving the world's first pure electric drive full-size humanoid robot anthropomorphic running. Four months later, "Tiangong" has been upgraded again, not only with more action styles, but also with the support of the embodied intelligent large model, it has mastered the ability of voice interaction and grasping.
"When people give voice commands, the embodied intelligent robot can complete a set of grasping and releasing actions based on the 'open vocabulary target detection and arbitrary object segmentation multimodal model'." Zhang Qiang, a humanoid robot algorithm expert at the Innovation Center, introduced that the embodied intelligent large model link has been opened, which means that the robot can understand human commands, disassemble and complete related tasks. In the future, robots will be able to help humans do more things.
At the Robot Conference, the walking and running "Tiangong" not only patrolled the venue like the audience, but also "enthusiastically" waved to the audience, and the audience followed and took photos along the way. When patrolling to the Tesla exhibition area, after staying for a few minutes, "Tiangong" was invited to enter the exhibition area and took a photo with the static Tesla humanoid robot Optimus. The two "star" humanoid robots in the same frame immediately made the exhibition area more lively, and the audience surrounded the two robots and raised their mobile phones and cameras to take pictures.

The server that sends commands to the joints is smaller
To make humanoid robots more flexible, the sensitivity of each joint of their body must keep up. At the Robot Conference, the "little giant" company Qingneng Dechuang unveiled its new products. Li Xinglin, the company's marketing director, said: "In view of the development trend of humanoid robots, we independently developed the CoolDrive Mini ANT networked micro servo drive, which has the characteristics of high power density, high switching frequency, high bandwidth response and low loss." This drive can be used in application scenarios with small size and high burst requirements, such as humanoid robots, mechanical dogs, etc.
Lingzu Era, which was established in Yizhuang, Beijing only eight months ago, has broken through the innovation bottleneck of robot joints between lightness and stability. Founder and COO Shao Yuanxin said: "Robot joints are the key to making humanoid robots as flexible as humans. Our self-developed quasi-direct drive 120N.m integrated joint module Robstride04 can drive a 1-meter-high medium-sized bipedal humanoid robot or a full-sized quadruped robot."
UBTECH Robotics Co., Ltd., which will establish its humanoid robot headquarters in Yizhuang, Beijing this year, brought its "humanoid robot team" including Walker S and Walker S Lite to the stage, and also demonstrated humanoid robot industrial scenario solutions on site. The robot "inspector" approached the "to-be-inspected" vehicle with an LED light in hand, and completed the inspection of tires, doors and other parts in a few seconds. The reporter noticed that the staff deliberately blocked the logo of the "to-be-inspected" vehicle. The "inspector" found that there was no logo during the inspection and fed back this situation to the system.
According to relevant persons in charge of UBTECH, the industrial version of the humanoid robot Walker S Lite has been "employed" in many automobile factories, and can assist employees in carrying tasks at the warehouse loading station of the factory. It is the first humanoid robot in China to perform and display the whole process of material box handling tasks, and its operation completion and execution difficulty are also among the best in the industry.

Orthopedic surgery robot ROPA can learn deeply
In the field of high-end medical devices, Changmugu launched ROPA, the world's first AI+ROBOT orthopedic surgical robot equipped with artificial intelligence deep learning technology, which was independently developed. The surgical control accuracy exceeds the millimeter level, and it has made breakthroughs in shortening operation time, reducing surgical risks, and alleviating patient pain.
Zhang Yiling, chairman of Changmugu, introduced that ROPA is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence deep learning technology and has the "super brain" of orthopedic experts. Before the patient undergoes surgery, ROPA can help doctors give a set of individualized three-dimensional surgical plans within 5-10 minutes based on the patient's CT scan. ROPA also has a sub-millimeter precision optical positioning system, which is like a "digital eye" that can monitor and track changes in the patient's intraoperative position in real time, helping doctors break through the bottlenecks of traditional surgery such as limited vision and blind spots in operation.
The SMC booth exhibited a series of digital, energy-saving and collaborative robot products, including electric vacuum grippers and elastic fingers for collaborative robots, which can realize the gripping and weighing of workpieces. The Yaskawa Shougang Robot Practical Function Training Platform demonstrated robot visual positioning depalletizing and stacking, visual positioning gluing, and robot health diagnosis.
Titanium Tiger Robotics has released a new humanoid robot, the T230. Yi Gang, the founder of Titanium Tiger Robotics, said: "The T230 is the first humanoid robot in China that is 2.3 meters tall and is mainly used in heavy object handling scenarios. Relying on core components such as the lightweight reducer developed independently, we have achieved the characteristics of a light but powerful robot, which is three times stronger than a normal adult."
