The long-term shortage of employment and social security in my country's counties has not only given rise to a floating population, but also restricted the improvement of the quality of life of county residents. During the second summer social practice survey, the research team of the "local urbanization" path in southern Jiangsu Province of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Suzhou University of Science and Technology chose to conduct field interviews and surveys on enterprises and commuting employees from the perspective of individual employees on commuting methods, practices, experiences, and corporate security and welfare. The survey destination was Kunshan, the first of the top 100 counties in China, and Suzhou Zhucheng Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd., hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the relevant situations of people's commuting and work scenes in their lives.
Led by instructors Wang Yao and Meng Xiaodong, the team arrived in Kunshan on August 1 and focused on investigating the commuting situation at the Huaqiao Town subway station.
Huaqiao Town is one of the places where Shanghai Metro Line 11 passes through, less than 25 kilometers away from the center of Shanghai. Huaqiao Rail Transit Station has typical commuter population characteristics. Through field research, questionnaire distribution and interviews.
The team learned about the living and working conditions of local people, new immigrants and migrant workers. In addition, the team visited the Huaqiao International Business City Regional Headquarters Base and Suzhou Zhucheng Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd. in Suzhou. Through this visit and study, the team has a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the company's operating model, management philosophy, employee benefits and other aspects, which also provides strong support for the team's subsequent research.
After six days of research on companies and commuting employees, the research team on the path of "local urbanization" in southern Jiangsu stepped out of the books and gained a deep understanding of the impacts on individual roles and the reasons behind decision-making in the process of urbanization of county towns represented by Kunshan, and became more determined to promote relevant research on the development of "local urbanization" in counties.
