South Korea and the United States will hold the "Ulchi Freedom Shield" joint military exercise from August 19 to 29. South Korea holds alert exercise at maritime outpost

In the waters off the west coast of South Korea, South Korean naval vessels are using offshore outposts to quickly enter the exercise site. High-speed assault boats belonging to the South Korean Navy's 2nd Fleet set sail.

Within 1 minute, the crew members at the exercise site aimed their 40mm naval guns at the imaginary enemy, and soldiers holding K-2 rifles and K-6 machine guns also entered combat readiness for close-range shooting. At this time, other naval ships responsible for defending the western waters also joined in the battle.

South Korean media: Tensions in South Korea's western waters continue to grow

South Korean media said that the tension in the western seas has been growing as the inter-Korean relations have been strained this year. In March this year, the South Korean military deployed the Marine Corps and the Army to conduct a large-scale response exercise. In June this year, the South Korean Marine Corps conducted a maritime shooting exercise again after a lapse of 7 years.

The U.S. military dispatched armored troops from the United States to South Korea to participate in the exercise

This week, the Thunder Battalion of the 1st Armored Division of the US Army stationed in Texas, the United States, entered the Seungjin Training Ground in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, and conducted a joint live-fire exercise with the Attack Battalion of the 1st Armored Brigade of the South Korean Army to echo the "Ulchi Freedom Shield" exercise. More than 320 troops from both armies formed a joint combat group, and the "Apache" armed helicopters of the US 2nd Division and the South Korean-US Joint Division also participated in the air cover operation.
