On August 17, local time, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Ukrainian army used Western-made rockets to attack civilian facilities in Kursk Oblast for the first time.
The rockets used by Ukraine are most likely the US-made HIMARS rockets.
Putin has warned some Western countries that proposals to allow Ukraine to use foreign-supplied weapons to strike targets within Russia would have "serious consequences."
Myhaylo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, recently confirmed to British media that Kiev and its Western allies had discussed plans to launch a cross-border attack on Russian territory.
Earlier, some Western countries, including the United States, denied knowing about the attack plan or participating in it. Podolak was also the first Ukrainian official to publicly talk about the motives behind the Ukrainian army's cross-border operation. Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst, also said that the United States was the mastermind behind the entry of NATO weapons and equipment into Russian territory.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Patrushev also stated that the Ukrainian army's entry into the Kursk region was planned with the participation of NATO and the West, and was also driven by the realization that the Kiev regime was "about to collapse."
