The Beijing Garden City "Seed Plan" was recently launched in Jingshan Street, Dongcheng District. Professor Hou Xiaolei of the Central Academy of Fine Arts led a team to carry out resident participatory design community building activities in collaboration with Jingshan Street, excavating and cultivating a group of "seed" volunteers for the Garden City, and jointly promoting the renewal and improvement of the community environment.
"I hope that everyone will work together, starting from a seed, from the little things around us, to create the aesthetics of life." Hou Xiaolei introduced that the "Seed Plan" is to give full play to the professional expertise of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in social aesthetic education, through customized and diversified community building activities, to fully tap the power of community residents and local units, and jointly explore the construction of Beijing Garden City demonstration blocks and communities that are people-oriented, child-friendly, age-friendly, and low-carbon ecological.
During the event, the teachers and students of the Central Academy of Fine Arts gave the residents a lively and interesting seedling cultivation knowledge lecture and initiated a seedling cultivation activity. The patterns of common Chinese herbal medicines in Beijing drawn by the residents will also be used in the construction of community seed stations in the future.
Jingshan Street is a pilot block for the construction of a garden city in Dongcheng District. It is understood that the CAFA team of teachers and students had previously worked with the street, community and residents to build a "micro garden" in Jingshan Hutong. In the future, they plan to build the back street of the art museum into a "Chinese herbal medicine low-carbon healing theme street" to create a garden city demonstration block with Jingshan cultural characteristics. In the future, the CAFA team will also set up seed exchange stations and micro garden co-construction platforms in more streets, communities and villages.
