On August 16, the list of winners of the Future Science Prize was announced. Deng Hongkui won the 2024 Future Science Prize in Life Sciences; Zhang Tao and Li Yadong won the 2024 Future Science Prize in Material Sciences; and Sun Binyong won the 2024 Future Science Prize in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Deng Hongkui from the Changping Laboratory of Peking University pioneered the use of chemical methods to reprogram somatic cells into pluripotent stem cells, and has done outstanding work in changing cell fate and state. Zhang Tao from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Li Yadong from Tsinghua University have made pioneering contributions to the development and application of "single atom catalysis". Sun Binyong from the Institute of Advanced Mathematics of Zhejiang University has made outstanding contributions to the representation theory of Lie groups.
The Future Science Prize currently has three major awards: "Life Science Award", "Material Science Award" and "Mathematics and Computer Science Award", with a single prize of approximately RMB 7.2 million (equivalent to US$1 million).
Since 2016, a total of 39 winners have been selected for the Future Science Prize, all of whom are highly accomplished scientists in basic and applied research fields such as life sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and computers.
