Xinmin Evening News (Reporter Yang Shuo) Technological innovation is enabling more and more urgent needs to be responded to immediately. The reporter learned on August 16 that in order to enhance the scenic spot tour experience, enhance its emergency support capabilities and the digital level of daily operation and maintenance, Meituan UAV opened Beijing's first drone delivery route at the Badaling Great Wall, a national AAAAA-level scenic spot. At present, this delivery route can provide tourists near the landing point with heatstroke prevention and cooling, emergency rescue and other commodity delivery services. Since then, Meituan UAV's "airdrop" service has covered the four first-tier cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. At the same time, this is also the first time that normalized drone delivery services have been launched in Beijing.

It is reported that the landing point of Beijing's first drone delivery route is located at the Nanjiu Tower on the southern extension of the Badaling Great Wall, and the area will be open to the public at the end of 2023. Unlike the previously open Badaling Great Wall, which has a complete architectural form, this section of the Great Wall has been preserved after eliminating dangers and diseases, and adopts a small number, small-scale, appointment-based, and collective organization form, mainly carrying out outdoor hiking, adventure crossing, Great Wall research, travel photography and other activities.
In order to preserve the original appearance of the area, no commercial facilities are set up here, but this also means that visitors who visit here need to walk for at least half an hour to replenish drinking water and other supplies. The recent high temperature in Beijing has also significantly increased the demand for the transportation of emergency supplies such as heatstroke prevention and cooling on the Great Wall.
Complex and diverse potential demands have attracted Meituan drones to launch the "airdrop delivery" service at the Great Wall: on the premise of meeting the transportation requirements, drones can help tourists near the landing point purchase and deliver urgently needed sun umbrellas, cooling patches and other heat-prevention and cooling supplies; Meituan has also added an emergency first aid kit at the take-off point to provide disinfectant, light salt water, anti-dizziness drugs and other emergency supplies to tourists in need; in addition, after the end of each day's operating hours, the drones will transform from "porters" to "sanitation workers", assisting scenic area operation and maintenance personnel in transporting nearby waste to designated recycling locations, alleviating the daily transportation pressure of staff in the hot summer.
Tourists near the landing point can simply operate on their mobile phones and wait for a few minutes to receive cooling products such as sour plum soup and ice cream. This allows tourists to enjoy instant retail services like at home even when they are in the beacon tower, reducing the material burden during the trip.
Industry experts said: "The combination of low-altitude economy and scenic spots is a typical practice of integrating technological innovations such as drone delivery into the transformation and upgrading of the cultural tourism industry, thereby catering to the increasingly diversified and high-quality cultural tourism consumption needs of the current market, effectively helping the tourism industry to improve quality and efficiency through technological innovation, and further stimulating market consumption potential.
"In the future, we hope to cooperate with more new brands and new scenarios so that everyone can truly enjoy the higher quality consumer experience brought by technology." The relevant person in charge of Meituan Drone introduced that as of now, Meituan Drone has opened more than 30 routes in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities, and has completed more than 300,000 orders in total. The service can cover offices, communities, scenic spots, municipal parks, emergency medical care, campuses, libraries and other scenarios, and provide users with more than 90,000 product choices.
