Items related to antimony and superhard materials are subject to export controls.

According to the Ministry of Commerce on August 15, the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs jointly issued the "Announcement on the Implementation of Export Control on Antimony and Other Items". It mentioned that in order to safeguard national security and interests and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, with the approval of the State Council,It is decided to implement export control on antimony and other items. This announcement will be officially implemented from September 15, 2024.

In the first half of 2024, the increase in antimony prices far outpaced all other metal spot products. SMM data showed that on December 29, 2023, the average price of 1# antimony ingots was 82,000 yuan/ton; on June 28, 2024, its average price was 157,000 yuan/ton, a half-year increase of 91.46%. Since late June, antimony prices have remained high and sideways.

Since antimony is relatively scarce, widely used, and has certain military attributes, many countries have listed antimony as a strategic mineral resource. China is a major antimony industry country, and its antimony ore reserves and production rank first in the world. According to a research report by China Merchants Securities, the global antimony ore reserves will be 2.17 million tons in 2023, of which China's reserves will be 640,000 tons, accounting for 30%; the global antimony ore production will be 83,000 tons in 2023, of which China's production will be 40,000 tons, accounting for 48%.
