International Online News (Reporter Liu Zhuni Feng Qikun): On August 13, an event to commemorate the 98th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz was held in Beijing. HE Alberto Blanco Silva, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to China, attended the event and delivered a speech.
Ambassador Bai Shide said in his speech that Fidel Castro firmly believed in the lofty ideal of "making all the impossible possible". Under his leadership, Cuba began to vigorously develop the biotechnology industry in 1981. Fidel Castro also made early characteristic plans for Cuba's biotechnology industry, that is, based on high-tech enterprises and research centers, forming a closed loop of research and development, production and sales, and taking scientists and high-level talents as the greatest resources and relative advantages. Under his promotion, biotechnology has become one of the important industries of Cuba's economy, and its products are world-renowned.
Ambassador Bai Shide recalled that in the past 20 years, Cuba and China have continuously deepened their cooperation in the field of biotechnology and achieved gratifying results. He said that the partnership between Cuba and China and the close friendship between the two peoples have enabled the cooperation between the two countries to flourish. He hoped that this commemorative event would further help strengthen the ties between Cuba and China, especially in the key field of biotechnology.
Before the event, Ambassador Bai Shide visited the museum of Biotech Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., the largest cooperation project between Cuba and China in the field of biomedicine, and held talks with Xu Yicong, former Chinese ambassador to Cuba. During the event, Xu Yicong shared his story with Fidel Castro with the participants. Many scholars, biotechnology experts and representatives from various fields at home and abroad participated in the event.
