According to Russia Today (RT) and the New York Post website on the 13th, US President Biden said on the same day that the US has been in contact with Ukraine regarding the Ukrainian army's continued invasion of Russian territory, and said that the Ukrainian army's actions are causing trouble for Russia.

A video posted on social media by Ukrainian President Zelensky on the 12th showed that the Ukrainian army’s top commander said that his troops had occupied about 1,000 square kilometers of land in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

On the 13th, Biden made his first speech on the Ukrainian army's cross-border offensive. He told reporters: "In the past 6 to 8 days, I have talked to my staff regularly (about this matter), about once every four or five hours." He also claimed that the Ukrainian army's offensive brought "real difficulties" to the Russian side.

"We have been in direct, ongoing contact with the Ukrainians. That's all I have to say during this operation," Biden added. He made the remarks in front of the plane when he arrived in New Orleans on Air Force One, the special plane for the US president, according to reports.

RT reported that earlier in the day, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell said that the EU would "fully support" the Ukrainian army's offensive in Kursk Oblast.

RT reported that previously, officials in Washington and Brussels only expressed general support for Ukraine and that relevant policies remained unchanged when responding to questions from media reporters about the situation in Russia's Kursk Oblast. The New York Post also pointed out that Biden and most US officials had previously avoided answering media inquiries about the Ukrainian army's cross-border incursion into Russian territory. Last week, US officials said they were working to learn more. However, the Biden administration's actions show that the US has not expressed opposition to Ukraine's move.

For example, John Kirby, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said on the 9th: "We are in contact with our Ukrainian counterparts, trying to better understand what they are doing, what their goals are, and what their strategies are. I will allow us to have these conversations a little bit before trying to describe what is happening." Later on the 9th, the United States announced an additional round of military aid to Ukraine worth $125 million.

The New York Post pointed out that the Ukrainian army launched an invasion of Russian territory during the US presidential election. The result of this election may change the US government's policy on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Former US President Trump once said that if he was re-elected president, he would end the conflict through negotiations before taking office on January 20 next year. Ukrainian President Zelensky once said that he was worried that Trump's move would mean asking Ukraine to make concessions.
