On August 13, the well-known data research company IDC officially released the 2024 India market report.

The report shows that in the first half of 2024, the overall shipments of smartphones in India will be 69 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. The shipments in the second quarter were 35 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. This is the fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth, but due to the increase in average selling price and weak demand, the recovery rate in the first half of the year is slowing down. The report pointed out that the average selling price of the Indian smartphone market increased by 2.8%, but fell by 5.6% month-on-month. The current average selling price is US$248, or about RMB 1,775.

IDC's ranking is different from that of other data companies and is divided into very detailed categories.

Champion: vivo, with a market share of 16.5%, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%;

Runner-up: Xiaomi, with a market share of 13.5%, a year-on-year increase of 26.8%;

Third place: Samsung, with a market share of 12.9%, down 15.4% year-on-year;

Fourth: Realme, market share 12.6%, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%;

Fifth: OPPO, market share 11.5%, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%;

Sixth: Apple, market share 6.7%, year-on-year growth of 24.2%. Seventh: Motorola, market share 6.2%, year-on-year growth of 179.7%. Eighth: Poco, high-end share 5.7%, year-on-year growth of 17.0%. Ninth: OnePlus, market share 4.4%, year-on-year decline of 37.3%, Tenth: iQOO, market share 2.7%, year-on-year growth of 31.6%.

IDC ranks the top ten brands separately from Xiaomi and Poco, vivo and iQOO, and OnePlus and OPPO. Only Samsung and OnePlus declined year-on-year, and OnePlus's decline was the largest. The rest all grew year-on-year, with Motorola growing the most.

The report also analyzed models of different grades in the Indian market. They believe that Xiaomi is the brand with the highest share in the entry-level market below $100, followed by Poco and realme. In the $100-200 market, Xiaomi still ranks first, realme ranks second, and vivo ranks third. These three brands account for up to 60% of the market share in this segment. In the $200-400 market, OPPO, vivo, and Samsung performed best. In the $400-600 market, vivo performed best, and OnePlus and OPPO also performed well. In the market above $800, Apple has the highest share, reaching 77%, and Samsung ranks second.
