The 2024 civil aviation summer transport season will start on July 1 and end on August 31, lasting 62 days. Halfway through the summer vacation, the civil aviation market has ushered in the peak of summer transport, and passenger traffic has hit a new record high. Last week, the average number of domestic passenger flights per day was 16,200, an increase of 20% over 2019. According to the Civil Aviation Weekly (August 5 to August 11, 2024) released by Changfeizhun on August 12, in terms of passenger flights, as of August 11, the country has carried out a total of 2.9367 million domestic passenger flights this year, a year-on-year increase of 6% and an increase of 11% compared with the same period in 2019; a total of 422,600 international and regional passenger flights, a year-on-year increase of 126% and a decrease of 29% compared with the same period in 2019.

Last week, the civil aviation system carried out 113,000 passenger flights, an average of 16,200 flights per day, a 1% increase from the previous month, a 7% increase from the previous year, and a 20% increase from 2019. The weekly passenger volume was 16.754 million, an average of 2.393 million per day, a 2% increase from the previous month, a 12% increase from the previous year, and a 26% increase from 2019. The flight execution rate was 87%, an increase of 1 percentage point from the previous month; the passenger load factor was 87%, an increase of 1 percentage point from the previous month.

In terms of cargo flights, as of August 11, the country has carried out a total of 50,000 domestic cargo flights this year, an increase of 19% year-on-year and 60% over the same period in 2019; a total of 88,500 international and regional cargo flights, an increase of 6% year-on-year and 192% over the same period in 2019.

Last week, China's domestic aircraft utilization rate averaged 10.1 hours per day, up about 0.2 percentage points from the previous week's average.

Summer travel air ticket prices have dropped year-on-year; Beijing ranks first among domestic popular destinations in August

The price of air tickets for the next phase of summer travel has dropped year-on-year. According to data from Air Travel, the average price of domestic air tickets (excluding tax) from August 10 to August 31 was about 912 yuan, down about 12% year-on-year.

According to the big data of Air Travel, the top 10 popular domestic destinations in August are: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Kunming, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Wuhan.

Airport passenger throughput: Pudong, Guangzhou and Capital Airports ranked the top three in terms of passenger flow

In terms of airport passenger throughput, Pudong, Guangzhou and Capital Airport ranked the top three last week. Among the airports with more than 10 million passengers, except for Harbin, Changchun, Urumqi and Taiyuan airports, which saw a slight decline in passenger flow month-on-month, the passenger flow of other airports maintained an upward trend.

According to statistics, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Air China ranked the top three in terms of flight volume last week. The flight volume of the top 20 airlines fluctuated slightly month-on-month, with the increase and decrease within 2%. Among them, the flight volume of Tianjin Airlines and Tibet Airlines both decreased by 1% month-on-month.

International routes continue to recover, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and other countries have maintained positive growth

In terms of the recovery of international/regional routes, about 80% of mainland China's routes to Asia, Europe and Oceania have recovered. Some major routes, such as Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, have continued to grow positively, while North American routes are still hovering at a low level.

According to data from Air Travel, the top 10 popular outbound destinations in August are: Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Osaka, Singapore, Macau, Taipei, London and Moscow.
