Beijing sets up special fund to reward 300 outstanding rural teachers

This year, Beijing will select 300 outstanding rural teachers and give them material rewards. According to the "Notice on Rewarding Outstanding Rural Teachers" recently issued by the Municipal Education Commission, the city will set up a special fund for rural teachers to reward 100 rural teachers who have taught in rural schools for 30 years and 200 rural teachers who have taught in rural schools for 20 years.
The participating teachers must be full-time teachers who have taught in rural schools for 30 years and 20 years and are still teaching in rural areas. According to the quota allocation table for outstanding rural teachers, 11 districts including Haidian District, Mentougou District, and Tongzhou District participated in the selection. The quotas of each district are allocated according to the proportion of rural teachers who have taught for 30 years and 20 years, and the total number is basically between 10 and 40. Among them, Fangshan District has the most quotas, with 23 and 44 teachers who have taught for 30 years and 20 years, respectively, for a total of 67 people.
The district education committees will give priority to full-time teachers who have been teaching for a long time and have served as class teachers for a long time. In terms of selection criteria, candidates must not only complete their teaching tasks with high quality, be rigorous in their studies and have superb professional skills, but also have outstanding achievements in education and teaching reform, promoting the all-round development of students, and cultivating talents.
Love for rural education is an important indicator for selection. The selection criteria clearly state that the personal deeds of the participating teachers should be able to demonstrate the contemporary rural teachers' dedication to education, selfless contribution, and pioneering spirit. The participating teachers should enjoy a good social reputation, be deeply loved by students, have high recognition from society and parents, and play a certain leading and exemplary role in the local area.
The Municipal Education Commission has made it clear that all relevant districts and schools should strengthen the organization and leadership of the awarding of outstanding rural teachers. On the basis of adhering to the basic conditions, they should comprehensively consider ideological and political performance, teacher ethics, teaching ability and level, work performance and contribution, adhere to the principles of openness, fairness and justice, and ensure the quality of the candidates submitted. Units and individuals who fail to strictly follow the submission conditions and prescribed procedures will have their qualifications revoked after verification; in accordance with the principle of whoever submits, whoever is responsible, serious dereliction of duty or fraud, taking advantage of the opportunity to seek personal gain, accepting bribes and other illegal and disciplinary acts in the submission process will be severely dealt with in accordance with relevant regulations.
