According to Brazilian media reports on the 9th, the second quarter results of this year announced by Petrobras on the 8th showed that the company suffered a loss for the first time in nearly four years.
Data showed that Petrobras suffered a net loss of 2.6 billion reais (about 3.38 billion yuan) in the second quarter of this year. Reports said this was the company's first loss since September 2020. In addition, the company also lowered its investment forecast for this year from the previous $18.5 billion to between $13.5 billion and $14.5 billion.
Petrobras reported that a combination of factors, including the depreciation of the real against the dollar and the terms of a tax agreement with the Ministry of Finance, affected its net profit, but not its cash flow. Despite the loss, Petrobras announced a dividend of 13.57 billion reais (17.65 billion yuan) to shareholders, part of which came from a capital reserve established last year.
