Beijing News (Reporter Zhou Huaizong) On August 10, the finals of the first Beijing Virtual Sports Games opened in Mentougou District. More than 7,000 contestants used high-tech technology and equipment to compete fiercely online.

It is reported that virtual sports games use advanced new digital equipment to condense traditional sports that originally required a large venue into a small space, which not only ensures the competitive experience of athletes, but also greatly reduces the threshold for participation, attracting more people to participate in sports. It is worth noting that virtual sports are essentially different from e-sports games. It is more inclined to the field of sports, and is based on the digital transformation and innovation of sports with high popularity among the public. It not only retains the essence and charm of traditional sports, but also cleverly integrates modern technological elements, making the sports experience richer and more diverse.

The Games were co-organized by Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, Mentougou District People's Government and Beijing Sports Federation, and hosted by Mentougou District Sports Bureau and Beijing Sports Federation Secretariat. With the theme of "Youth, Vitality and Fashion", the Games combined with the unique regional characteristics of Mentougou, set up six major competition events including digital golf, smart orienteering, smart spinning, smart rowing, laser simulation shooting and e-sports racing, and were divided into four competition groups: adults, youth, teenagers and children.
It is reported that the reason why the first Beijing Virtual Sports Games was held in Mentougou District is that the district relies on the "Western Beijing Smart Valley" in Zhongguancun Mentougou Park, which is the first autonomous innovation artificial intelligence computing power cluster in Beijing to build a mountain sports industry ecosystem. This move not only injects new vitality and momentum into the development of the sports industry in Mentougou District, but also provides experience and reference for the integration of sports technology in Beijing and even the whole country. It is reported that the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau and the Beijing Sports Federation will continue to strengthen in-depth cooperation and exchanges with Mentougou District, and jointly hold more technological and fashionable sports events similar to the Virtual Games, with the online experience driving offline demand as the guide, to help build a fashionable sports gathering area in the western part of the city.
