On August 10, the "Boju Xiangshan" 6th Zhuhai Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair for Young Doctors and Postdoctoral Fellows from Home and Abroad and the National High-level Talent Service Tour - Entering Zhuhai (hereinafter referred to as the "Double Fair") kicked off at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center.
As a brand event for high-end talents in Zhuhai, this year's "Double Expo" is themed "Zhuhai gathers global talents and leads new quality development". It has attracted more than 400 high-end talent representatives, including academicians from professional fields such as artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, new generation information technology, biomedicine, new materials, high-end talent think tank experts, experts with special government allowances from the State Council, and outstanding young doctors and postdoctoral fellows from well-known universities at home and abroad. They gathered in Zhuhai to engage in top intellectual collisions, use the "strongest brains" to promote the integrated development of scientific and technological innovation and emerging industries, and contribute their talents to the innovation-driven development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Gathering talents to enable high-quality development of the industry
Compared with previous sessions, this Zhuhai "Double Expo" focuses more on the development needs of Zhuhai's strategic emerging industries, especially in the fields of new generation information technology, new energy storage, integrated circuits and low-altitude economy, and is committed to attracting talents and gathering wisdom. In order to accelerate the construction of a high-level talent base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attract and gather more outstanding young scientific and technological talents, focus on Zhuhai's key industries, select the "Top Ten Young Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovators in Zhuhai in 2024", and issue certificates to the top ten outstanding young doctoral and postdoctoral talents at the opening ceremony.

Xiao Yibo, founder and CEO of Zhuhai Yuanyu Biotechnology Co., Ltd., gave a speech as a representative of the top ten doctoral postdoctoral fellows: "It is not only an honor for me personally, but also an encouragement and motivation for my company. In his speech, Chao Guiming, member of the Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee and deputy mayor, said that currently there are more than 6,000 doctoral and postdoctoral talents active in various industrial fields in Zhuhai, and the total number of talents in the city has reached 900,000, with the net inflow rate of talents ranking among the top in the province. Holding this high-level doctoral and postdoctoral talent event will further strengthen the talent exchange and cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and demonstrate Zhuhai's confidence and determination to empower the high-quality development of the industry with the power of scientific and technological talents.
Leveraging the strongest "external brain" to help enterprises open up the "Ren and Du Meridians"
In this event, the Overseas Students and Experts Service Center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security brought 15 high-end talent think tank experts to Zhuhai. The experts diagnosed and prescribed solutions to core issues such as technical breakthroughs, upgrading and transformation, resource integration, and talent training for Zhuhai's traditional pillar industries and strategic emerging industries; in the future, they will also establish a long-term mechanism to deeply integrate Zhuhai's industrial chain, talent chain, and innovation chain, and to stimulate the innovative vitality of talents, so as to promote Zhuhai's high-quality development.
Tao Jing, deputy director of the Overseas Students and Experts Service Center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, said that this event has built an innovation and entrepreneurship exchange platform for talents and Zhuhai's characteristic industrial clusters, closely linking expert resources and intellectual achievements with national strategies, local development, and corporate needs, and focusing on empowering Zhuhai companies to solve technical problems, flexibly introduce expert talents, and negotiate projects.
Broaden the "channel" for talent cultivation and upgrade innovation and entrepreneurship platforms
In 2024, 12 units including Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Southern Marine Science and Engineering (Zhuhai) and Zhuhai Wantong Special Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd. were approved as postdoctoral research workstations and Guangdong Provincial Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Bases.
"The Guangdong Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base is a very good platform." Fu Xuejun, technical manager of Zhuhai Jinfa Biomaterials Co., Ltd., presented a plaque to the Guangdong Postdoctoral Innovation Experimental Base. He said that the base can attract outstanding postdoctoral fellows from home and abroad to join, helping them to grow rapidly and create value for the company while enhancing the company's scientific research strength. In the future, more outstanding talents will be trained to become pillars of society and the backbone of the scientific research field, providing a solid guarantee for local economic transformation and social development.
As of June 2024, Zhuhai has 13 academician workstations and 178 doctoral and postdoctoral scientific research and innovation platforms, including 126 postdoctoral research workstations (branch stations, bases) and 52 doctoral workstations, which have attracted more than 6,000 doctoral and postdoctoral talents to take root in Zhuhai for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Zhuhai Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Platform was officially launched at the meeting, which aims to create the best talent services with technology empowerment. This platform is the first municipal doctoral and postdoctoral innovation and entrepreneurship service platform in the province. It focuses on the needs of Zhuhai doctoral and postdoctoral talents in innovation and entrepreneurship, communication and docking, and achievement transformation, and accurately matches and multi-dimensionally uses data information to provide convenient and considerate intelligent services for talents.
Exchange sincerity for results, and accelerate the gathering of key development factors
At the event, 52 well-known enterprises and institutions including Gree Electric Appliances, Huafa, and Southern Marine Laboratory attended the event to recruit talents, providing a total of 467 jobs for high-end talents such as doctoral students and post-doctoral students, with the highest salary level reaching 1.35 million yuan.
In addition, the event also invited 27 award-winning projects of the National and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, as well as internationally advanced and domestically leading excellent projects led by experts from well-known universities and key laboratories at home and abroad, to conduct on-site docking with the city's government investment promotion departments and investment and financing institutions. Seven doctoral and postdoctoral landing projects, including the Xiaomao AI smart life assistant robot research and development and industrialization project, the high-end UV polarizer project, and the Kunwu defense drone project, were signed on site, with a total investment of 2.57 billion yuan.
In terms of technology docking, the event invited 10 high-end think tank experts from the fields of electronic information technology, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine and big health to conduct one-on-one docking exchanges with 27 technical needs of 13 companies in Zhuhai, helping both parties to cooperate and exchange in technical cooperation and achievement transformation. At the same time, the Double Expo made full use of the opportunity of the second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition to attract talents, intelligence and technology, and organized 14 domestic and foreign doctors and postdoctoral fellows to dock with the key technical needs of Zhuhai companies to solve technical problems in a down-to-earth manner.
It is understood that the Double Expo is an important brand for Zhuhai to showcase young scientific and technological talents, exchange high-level talents, recruit high-end talents for enterprises, and promote a good city image. It has been successfully held for five sessions. Every year, more than 500 young doctors and postdoctoral students from home and abroad come to Zhuhai to innovate and start businesses, which has led to the successful implementation of a large number of scientific and technological achievements and talent projects in Zhuhai.
