Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 promises to be an excellent sequel, which becomes increasingly apparent the more we get to know the game. While it will iteratively build on the 2020 version in many ways, the game will also introduce some major new features, such as the ability to get out of the plane and walk around.

Yes, you read that right. Flying and aviation will undoubtedly be at the heart of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but Jorge Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, revealed in an interview that the upcoming flight simulation series will allow players to explore the entire massive and highly detailed map on foot.

Neumann said: “In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, you can get off the plane and walk around. You can walk along your favorite mountain trail to your favorite mountain cabin and sit by the lake to watch the sunset. It is truly an immersive digital twin world.”

"I think everyone has their own unique place of belonging... When Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was launched, everyone flew back to their home, and then to where they were born, and then to where their friends and family lived."

“I’m very curious to see where people will fly because we’ve improved the world so much in the 2024 version that it’s worth rediscovering, and there are features we haven’t talked about yet that I think will make it all the more fascinating.”

When these features will be revealed remains to be seen, but considering the game is set to release in a few months, it's safe to assume Microsoft will continue to release new information about the game in the weeks and months ahead.

"Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024" will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms on November 19th.
