After her father passed away, Shi Sensen lived with her mother in an old house in Shishi. Sometimes, her mother was sent to the hospital for treatment, and she was placed in a neighbor's house. Although she experienced the difficulty of life early on, she was not defeated. The care and love from teachers, classmates and caring people gave her the courage to pursue her dream of playing the guzheng. Hard life taught me to be independent
Shi Sensen and her mother live in an old house on Fengli Street in Shishi. Walking into the house, the paint on the kitchen ceiling has peeled off, and the mottled walls reveal traces of time. Next to the bedroom door next to the living room, a zongzi-shaped decoration is hanging high. This is what Shi's mother specially prepared for her daughter before the college entrance examination, which means "one shot and one success".
Before Shi Sensen was born, her mother suffered from deafness and mental illness. Her parents divorced early and her father died early, but with the help of her grandma and grandpa, the mother and daughter lived a decent life. In recent years, with the passing of the two elders, only the mother and daughter were left in this small house. Sometimes, Shi's mother would be sent to the hospital for treatment due to an attack of the disease, and Shi Sensen would be fostered in a neighbor's home. The changes in her family made her realize the hardships of life early, but at the same time tempered her strong character. As she grew up, she became more independent and less surprised by the ups and downs.
All sectors of society support the courageous pursuit of dreams
The situation of the mother and daughter soon attracted the attention of relevant government departments. After learning about it, community workers applied for low-income subsidies for them. Social organizations such as the Shishi Sunshine Lady Volunteer Association also visit their home every year to express their condolences. Therefore, despite the rough fate, Shi Sensen's yearning for beautiful things has not been defeated.
"When I was a kid, I went out with my grandfather and accidentally saw someone playing the guzheng. I was immediately attracted." She said that the melodious sound of the guzheng left a deep impression on her, and the dream of learning the guzheng was planted deep in her heart. When she was in elementary school, she was very excited to see that the school had opened a guzheng interest class. After discussing with her family, she immediately signed up for it. During this period, her grandfather saw that she was quite talented in learning the guzheng, so he found a guzheng training class for her outside the school and won her the opportunity to reduce tuition fees. She did not disappoint the efforts of her grandfather and teacher, and cherished this hard-won learning opportunity very much. Whenever she had time, she would hide in the room to practice the guzheng; on the eve of the guzheng grade test, in order to perform at her best in the test, she often practiced all night and kept improving. By the first year of high school, she had passed the guzheng grade ten test.
In her second year of high school, in order to get into a good school, she accepted her teacher's advice and embarked on the path of an art student. But where would the expensive art exam training come from? This question troubled Shi Sensen for a while.
"There are some contact information of art examination institutions on the online platform, so I called them one by one and asked them if they were willing to recruit me." Shi Sensen said that on the phone, she explained her family situation and her determination to learn guzheng well to the head of the institution. In order to find a training institution willing to recruit her at a low price, she and her mother went to Fuzhou, Quanzhou city and other places for consultation. Fortunately, hard work pays off. The head of an institution in Fuzhou was finally moved by their persistence and took the initiative to reduce the fee to a level that the mother and daughter could afford.
I want to be a guzheng teacher to repay my mother in the future
For Shi Sensen, the guzheng occupies an important position in her life. It is a "stress-relieving tool" when she feels stressed, a "seasoning" when she is frustrated, and a means of making a living in the future. Therefore, she has been determined to become a guzheng teacher since she was a child, and pass on the charm of the guzheng to more people.
After the college entrance examination results came out, she was not satisfied with the score of 478.75. In order to reduce the financial burden on her family, she applied to public colleges and universities for music-related majors. After weighing various options, she finally chose the music performance major of Sanming University.
Currently, Shi Sensen works part-time in a guzheng teacher's training class to earn money to supplement her family income. She has already made preliminary plans for the future. She wants to study hard in college and strive for the opportunity to take the postgraduate entrance examination. After graduation, she hopes to return to her hometown to develop and use her own strength to support her mother and repay her for raising her.
