According to the WeChat public account of Shanghai Internet Information Office on August 7, during the Paris Olympics, some netizens hyped up athletes' "CP" without any bottom line, made provocative remarks, launched malicious attacks, and manipulated the volume and comments, which seriously damaged the healthy and harmonious atmosphere of watching the games online. Local platforms such as Xiaohongshu, Bilibili, and Migu Video have successively issued initiatives for civilized viewing, strengthened the rectification of rankings, live broadcasts, bullet screens, and comments, and prevented the risk of sports becoming "fan circles".

In order to strengthen the rectification of online sports "fan circles", the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Cyberspace Affairs Office, under the unified deployment of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Office, guided the key local websites and platforms to actively fulfill their main responsibilities for network information content management, strengthen inspections and cleaning efforts, prevent noise outside the stadium from disturbing the normal competition of Chinese athletes, and strive to create a clear network space. As of August 6, Xiaohongshu has issued 6 governance announcements, cleaned up more than 19,000 related illegal information, removed 24 illegal topics, and banned 749 illegal accounts such as "Dream in Anything" and "Two Million". Bilibili cleaned up 58,652 illegal interactive information such as comments and barrages, took control measures on 1,639 illegal manuscripts, and banned 4,553 illegal accounts. Hupu cleaned up 18,323 related illegal content and gave 946 accounts a step-by-step ban or permanent ban according to the degree of violation. Migu Video handled more than 770,000 illegal interactive information and banned 24 illegal accounts such as "Luo***Lei", "Ping***Yin" and "Tao*Xi".

The Shanghai Municipal Cyberspace Administration calls on the majority of netizens to watch the games in a civilized manner, speak rationally, and consciously resist the chaos of sports "fan circles". At the same time, it will continue to supervise local website platforms to establish and improve normalized governance mechanisms, focus on handling a number of accounts with bad natures and regularly announce and expose them, and promptly transfer serious violations of laws and regulations to relevant departments for crackdown in accordance with the law.
