In the hot summer, fruits have become the first choice for many consumers to cool down. Durian, known as the "king of fruits", is naturally also included in the consideration range, but the relatively expensive price still "dissuades" many consumers. However, recently, careful consumers have discovered that a batch of affordable imported fresh durian has appeared on cross-border e-commerce platforms.

Why is the price of imported fresh durian lower?
"Under the cross-border e-commerce bonded stocking model, imported fresh durian has significant tax benefits compared to general trade, and the transaction chain is short, the trade cost is low, and the durian of the same quality can provide consumers with a more favorable price. This is a major advantage of cross-border e-commerce." Zheng Tianfan, deputy chief of the cross-border e-commerce review section of Ningbo Bonded Zone Customs under Ningbo Customs, answered the reporter's doubts. The so-called cross-border e-commerce bonded stocking model refers to first importing the goods in batches into domestic bonded warehouses, and using the cross-border e-commerce model for customs declaration and inspection, which saves a lot of pre-procedures required for general trade, has a low entry threshold, and is convenient and fast.
"Most imported fresh fruits are imported through general trade. We import fresh durian through cross-border e-commerce channels and then sell it through online platforms. This is our first attempt." Xu Yanchun, customs manager of Mogu Supply Chain Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., said while showing the freshly arrived Southeast Asian durian in the bonded warehouse.
According to Xu Yanchun, since May this year, Mogu has taken advantage of its self-operated cross-border cold chain bonded warehouse and imported two batches of 10,200 fresh durians from Thailand and Vietnam for the first time using the cross-border e-commerce bonded stocking model. The imports have been well received by consumers and all fresh fruits were sold out within 7 days of entering the warehouse. Half of the consumers purchased 2 or more at a time.

Fresh fruits have high requirements for storage conditions and delivery speed. To ensure the rapid customs clearance of goods, Ningbo Bonded Zone Customs guides enterprises to carry out the pilot of electronic tax guarantee for cross-border e-commerce retail imports, reduce circulation links, and improve approval time efficiency; apply embedded supervision of parcels leaving the zone, promote classification and grading management of checkpoints, and ensure that packaged goods can be delivered out of the zone as soon as possible. "Thanks to the customs facilitation measures provided by the customs, from placing orders on the platform to cold chain delivery, consumers can receive our selected products within 2 days. Next, we also plan to further expand the import of fresh fruits such as coconuts and cherries." Xu Yanchun said.
With the continuous expansion of the positive list of cross-border e-commerce, more and more global products, such as imported fruits, are entering the lives of domestic consumers through cross-border e-commerce channels. In addition to traditional health products, beauty products, and maternal and child products, products such as ice cream, wine and beverages have exploded the summer market, and video game equipment, game controllers, and wireless headphones have won the favor of a large number of young people.
According to data from Ningbo's cross-border comprehensive service platform, from January to July, Ningbo's cross-border e-commerce companies received more than 60 million orders from consumers and sold goods worth 18.32 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. The number of commodity tax numbers involved increased from 889 in the same period last year to 1,013.
