The global layout of China's leading lithium-ion battery material company, BTR, has made new progress again. On August 7, on the occasion of BTR's 24th anniversary, the first phase of its Indonesian project with an annual output of 160,000 tons of negative electrode materials was officially put into production. The project will help BTR further expand and serve the company's overseas customers, further seize the development opportunities of the international new energy market, and accelerate the transformation, upgrading and green development of the global automotive industry.

Industry data shows that in 2023, China's new energy vehicle exports will reach 1.203 million units, a year-on-year increase of 77.6%, setting a new record. Global energy storage cell shipments will reach 210GWh, a year-on-year increase of 70%. At the same time, based on the low penetration rate and broad growth space of overseas markets, the European and American markets have become the focus of market expansion for many battery companies and car companies, and companies' demand for localized production is growing.

The Indonesian factory is BTR's first overseas construction project. Despite challenges such as cultural differences and market environment differences, BTR still efficiently promoted the project, making it the industry's first factory to be officially put into operation overseas and began to supply customers. This demonstrates BTR's firm determination to grasp the global new energy market, and also reflects its use of high-quality international customer structure and deep resources of international operations to enhance BTR's competitiveness in the global market and inject new vitality into the world's new energy industry.

B&T has maintained the world's largest market share in negative electrode materials for 14 consecutive years. As a core manufacturer and supplier of global mainstream lithium battery manufacturers such as Panasonic, Samsung SDI, LGES, SKOn, CATL, and BYD, its main products include natural graphite, artificial graphite, silicon-based negative electrode materials and high-nickel ternary positive electrode materials. The products of its Indonesian factory will mainly provide a variety of battery material solutions for global electric vehicles, consumer batteries, and energy storage batteries.

He Xueqin, Chairman of BTR, said at the commissioning ceremony: "At present, the development of new energy has attracted worldwide attention and has epoch-making significance in improving the traditional energy structure, economic growth, environmental protection and energy security. BTR will keep pace with the times, base itself in Indonesia, actively implement its globalization strategy, and make positive contributions to building a green, harmonious and sustainable world."

He Xueqin also said: "The completion and commissioning of the project has filled the gap in the field of lithium-ion battery negative electrode materials in Indonesia and the entire ASEAN region, and has effectively promoted the improvement of Indonesia's full industrial chain in the new energy lithium battery industry." By further accelerating the pace of overseas expansion, BTR's leading position in the industry is constantly being consolidated. In addition to the Indonesian project, in April this year, BTR's Mediterranean annual production of 50,000 tons of lithium-ion battery positive electrode material project was officially started. After the project is completed, it will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of lithium battery positive electrode materials to meet the global demand for high-performance battery materials.

With the rise of new energy vehicles, lithium batteries are experiencing rapid growth, and Chinese lithium battery companies are accelerating their overseas expansion. As an important track for new quality productivity, lithium-ion batteries have become the "new three" of my country's foreign trade exports. From exporting products to exporting industrial chains, BYD's internationalization path is a typical example of the outward growth of Chinese lithium battery companies. As the industry enters the "big overseas era", a prosperous international new energy industry ecosystem is taking shape, which will be jointly built by many Chinese companies. (Zhang Jianjun)
