Surprisingly, in the second quarter of 2024, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway completed its largest Apple sale in years, selling about 400 million shares and missing the stock price peak after WWDC.

Berkshire Hathaway held about $174.3 billion of Apple stock in December 2023. As of Saturday's report, the company currently holds about $84.2 billion of Apple stock, not including more sales last month.

The highest price the company sold those shares was $192.35 on May 21. The best price Apple shares have traded this year was $234.82 on July 16, a few weeks after the end of the quarter, right after WWDC.

Apple shares closed at $219.86 on Friday as earnings beat Wall Street expectations.

After the sale, the company owns about 2.6% of Apple, a stake worth about $88 billion. Despite these moves, Apple remains Berkshire Hathaway's largest holding by value.
