Although the much-touted Apple Intelligence features won’t start showing up until a few weeks after the initial iOS 18 release, Apple reportedly has no plans to delay the iPhone 16 launch.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noted that the first features of Apple Intelligence only appeared in the first developer beta of iOS 18.1 and were not included in the initial beta.
It’s expected that all iPhones will be able to take advantage of at least some of the capabilities of Apple Intelligence when the iPhone 16 arrives, but Apple has been cautious about when it will be able to complete a full rollout.
Likewise, Apple Intelligence features won’t appear in the initial releases of iPadOS 18 or macOS Sequoia, but will begin shipping in the first major updates to those versions.
Gurman noted in his Power On newsletter that Apple did delay the release of the iPhone 4S until October 13 years ago because key features like iCloud and Siri weren't ready. This time around, however, the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to launch in mid-September, as usual.
The full suite of Apple Intelligence features is expected to roll out throughout the rest of 2024. Some have speculated that some features may not be ready until early 2025.
