Xinhua News Agency, Caracas, August 1 (Reporter Tian Rui) Venezuelan President Maduro said on August 1 that the Venezuelan people are the ones who grant power and make decisions, and the United States should stop interfering in the Venezuelan presidential election.

Maduro said in a statement on state television that there are still some constitutional and institutional procedures to be completed, but the United States said it has complete vote count records and evidence from the Venezuelan presidential election.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Blinken said in a statement that the US government concluded based on "overwhelming evidence" that Edmundo Gonzalez, the candidate of the opposition alliance "Democratic Unity Alliance", was the winner of the July 28 presidential election.

Maduro said the electoral system had been severely attacked, so on July 31 he filed a "protection lawsuit" with the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court, asking it to verify the results of the presidential election to clarify the relevant facts.

The Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court announced on August 1 that it would launch a judicial investigation into the voting activities and results of the July 28 presidential election, and would summon 10 presidential candidates including Maduro to appear in court on August 2.

Venezuela held a presidential election on July 28, with a total of 10 candidates participating. The Venezuelan National Electoral Commission announced in the early morning of July 29 that the ruling Grand Patriotic Alliance candidate and current President Maduro was re-elected president. (End)
