China News Service, August 2. Li Xingqian, Director of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce, said on the 2nd that cross-border e-commerce platforms are encouraged to expand the categories of goods and service functions. It is necessary to support the healthy development of consumer goods e-commerce platforms mainly oriented to the C-end, and also support the innovative development of industrial equipment, semi-finished products and parts e-commerce platforms mainly oriented to the B-end.

On the 2nd, the State Council Information Office held a series of press conferences on "Promoting High-quality Development". Li Xingqian made the above statement in response to questions related to promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce.

Li Xingqian said that in the first half of the year, my country's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports continued to maintain a steady growth momentum. The growth rate of cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 10.5%, 4.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of national foreign trade.

From the market perspective, China's imports and exports to countries such as France, Belgium, Spain, and Malaysia have grown rapidly. From the perspective of commodities, consumer goods are the main export products, and some high value-added products are also growing very well, such as the export of office equipment, which increased by 50.7%, and the export of cameras, which increased by 30.7%. Commodities imported from overseas are also very popular among domestic consumers, with food imports increasing by 22.8%, luggage imports increasing by 70.8%, and red wine imports increasing by 55.4%. From a regional perspective, coastal areas such as Guangdong and Zhejiang are the main force of cross-border e-commerce imports and exports, accounting for nearly 90% of the country's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports. From the perspective of corporate expectations, a questionnaire survey was recently conducted, and the data showed that nearly 80% of cross-border e-commerce companies are optimistic about the growth momentum in the second half of the year.

Li Xingqian said that in the next step, we will continue to adhere to the principles of encouraging innovation and being inclusive and prudent, and focus on doing a good job in two aspects:

On the one hand, optimize the service ecology. Implement special policies for cross-border e-commerce, support the development of cross-border e-commerce empowerment industrial belts, and guide local areas to cultivate a number of development benchmarks. We will promote experience exchanges between cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones through on-site meetings and other means. Support the cultivation of cross-border e-commerce brands. At the same time, we must also give full play to the role of local industry organizations, improve the level of industry self-discipline, guide cross-border e-commerce companies to operate in compliance, compete in an orderly manner, and actively fulfill their social responsibilities. In the second half of the year, the 136th Canton Fair, the "Autumn Fair", will be held. At the Autumn Fair, a special exhibition area for cross-border e-commerce will continue to be set up. China's logistics companies will be encouraged to strengthen international cooperation with the host country's delivery companies, especially to increase efforts to enhance the "last mile" performance of cross-border e-commerce companies.

On the other hand, we should deepen international cooperation, actively participate in international multilateral and bilateral negotiations, and use the bilateral economic and trade joint committees and trade facilitation working groups as communication mechanisms to promote the experience, practices and achievements of my country's cross-border e-commerce development. We should vigorously develop "Silk Road e-commerce" and support cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, industries and enterprises to actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation at all levels. We should encourage cross-border e-commerce platforms to expand the categories of goods and service functions, and support the healthy development of consumer goods e-commerce platforms that are mainly oriented to the C-end, as well as the innovative development of industrial equipment, semi-finished products and parts e-commerce platforms that are mainly oriented to the B-end.
