Starting today, owners of a Pixel phone (6 series), Pixel Fold, or Pixel tablet can experience the fourth (and final) beta of Android 15. The stable version is scheduled for release on August 13, the same day as the Pixel 9 series is released (there’s also a new Fold).

Android 15 Beta 2 added new features such as private spaces and a more efficient AV1 video decoder. Then, Beta 3 finalized the application interface so that app developers can start testing newly added features and deprecated features. There are not many large-scale improvements left for Beta 4.

The only notable change is that Google has abandoned the PNG-based emoji font. Since Android 13, the system has begun to support vector emojis, but for compatibility reasons, the old PNG version font is still retained. In this way, application developers have enough time to transition to the new vector format.

The app for Android 15 is available now on the Google Play Store, so anyone who has installed the beta version of the operating system can download the new version. You can also wait a few more weeks for the stable version to be released.

Here is a list of supported devices:

  • Pixel 6

  • Pixel 6 Pro

  • Pixel 6a

  • Pixel 7

  • Pixel 7 Pro

  • Pixel 7a

  • Pixel Tablet

  • Pixel Fold

  • Pixel 8

  • Pixel 8 Pro

  • Pixel 8a

Each manufacturer will announce its own promotion plan for Android 15. For example, Samsung is already testing One UI 7.0 internally, OnePlus has released the OnePlus 12 and Open beta 2, and Honor is testing it on Magic6 Pro and Magic V2.
