Chrome users reported that all passwords disappeared after updating to version 127.0.6533.73. In addition, some users reported that they were always prompted to save passwords after each login.

The bug dates back to Wednesday and affected users around the world who relied on Chrome's built-in tool to store and autofill passwords.

Google officially stated in the Google Workspace incident report that 2% of all Windows users who upgraded to the latest version of Chrome 127 were affected by the problem.

Google said in a report that preliminary results showed "changes in product behavior," but did not disclose specific details. The official statement translated by IT Home is as follows:

From the initial analysis, the root cause of the issue was a change in product behavior without proper functional protection. Google engineers mitigated the issue by deploying a fix.
