Loneliness is to maintain spiritual independence.

Spring doesn’t care about flowers blooming and falling, and you shouldn’t tell others about things that upset you;

Fish know when the water is warm or cold, and they will appreciate the scenery alone.

——Hong Yingming, "Cai Gen Tan"

Quiet flowers and trees are favored by scholars, but they have a kind of alienated personality, which often makes people deeply understand that it is "loneliness". A branch of plum or a solitary orchid gives people a sense of coldness and often has a kind of lonely and proud image beauty.

Our ancestors said: The gentlemen of ancient times, when they had no friends when traveling, would make friends with pine and bamboo; when they had no friends at home, would make friends with clouds and mountains.

People with an indifferent mind, though they have no one to accompany them and boast of being alone, do not feel empty and lonely. Pine, bamboo, flowers and grass, lotus in summer and plum blossom in winter, are constant companions in all seasons, which can dispel emptiness and loneliness; withering and flourishing, speaking and silence, can clear one's mind and appreciate the image; the endless life can illuminate the universe.

Loneliness is not solitude, but a spirit of communicating with the world alone.

Orchids grow in spring and summer, and are so lush and green.

In the lonely and empty forest, red flowers emerge from the purple stems.

Chen Zi'ang, the most lonely poet in the Tang Dynasty, also wrote about orchids with ease. The two words "solitary" and "distant" highlight the orchid's elegance and beauty.

When this lonely expression is put on paper, what blooms is the ultimate beauty of the soul.

Zheng Sixiao, a survivor of the Southern Song Dynasty, also known as Suonan, painted orchids all his life. After the fall of the Song Dynasty, he no longer painted the roots and soil of orchids to show the loss of his homeland. Where are the roots? Where does the soil go?

Ni Zan has a poem titled "On the Orchid in the Autumn Wind":

In the autumn wind, orchids and hyacinths turn into reeds; the desolate atmosphere of the south is gone.

Only Suonan's heart was not fulfilled, so he wrote Li Sao with tears and ink.

In Ni Yunlin's view, this rootless black orchid is clearly a lonely and tragic story written with ink as tears and long songs as cries. Lonely and sad, only this orchid fragrance gives people the strength to survive. The lines of these branches and leaves are full of lonely freehand brushwork. .....................................................................

Mr. Li Lincan believes that Chinese painting is more eloquent than other art forms in the world, winning by shaping with lines, and seeking a kind of freedom and ease in the changes of lines. In this world of flowers and leaves, there is the spiritual reflection of literati. .....................................................................

Cai Gen Tan:When we are content with the blooming flowers and willows, and enjoy the music and singing, it is the illusion of flowers and the thoughts of people. .....................................................................

We must look for some information after the trees have fallen and the grass has withered, among the sounds that have faded and the flavors that have faded, to find the key to the universe and the roots of people. Flowers are in full bloom, fires are boiling, music and dancing are riotous, and the hustle and bustle is just an illusion;

When the trees fall and the sounds fade, we can find opportunities and see the truth. Loneliness is the practice. The moon is lonely, and the stars are countless, but it is the moon that we remember deeply.

Loneliness is to maintain spiritual independence.

"The secluded plant is unknown to the public, and its fragrance is only kept in secret." A gentleman is lonely and self-respecting, hiding from the city and the court, but in harmony with the four seasons, abandoning the dust of the world and embracing the mist and haze of the mountains.

Living in this world, the only way to avoid being destroyed in the dust is to not be blown away by the wind.
