According to the Q2 global smartphone report from three major research companies, Xiaomi ranked third in the world in the second quarter and first among domestic smartphone brands. And its lead over other domestic smartphone brands is very large, mainly because Xiaomi has been growing both domestically and overseas in Q2.

Now Xiaomi has good news overseas. On July 18, the well-known data research company Canalys officially released a report on the Indian market in the second quarter of 2024. The report shows that the Indian smartphone market grew by 1% year-on-year in Q2, with overall shipments reaching 36.4 million units. Among them, Xiaomi performed the best, because Xiaomi returned to the top position, and this is the first time Xiaomi has topped the list after six quarters, which shows that Xiaomi has solved the problems it encountered in this market, and Samsung has certainly been dethroned.

Now let’s take a look at the specific rankings:

Champion: Xiaomi, with 6.7 million units shipped and 18% market share, up 24% year-on-year;

Runner-up: vivo, with shipments of 6.7 million units and a market share of 18%, a year-on-year increase of 4%;

Third place: Samsung, with shipments of 6.1 million units and a market share of 17%, down 8% year-on-year;

Fourth: Realme, with shipments of 4.3 million units and a market share of 12%, a year-on-year increase of 1%;

Fifth: OPPO (excluding OnePlus), with shipments of 4.2 million units and a market share of 11%, an increase of 11% year-on-year.

From the overall data, only Samsung among the top five brands has declined year-on-year, while the other four have all grown. Moreover, the other four brands are all domestic brands, among which Xiaomi has the largest growth, up to 24%. It seems that in the Indian market, as long as domestic brands do not encounter unfair treatment, local consumers still like our domestic brands the most. Relatively speaking, when domestic brands are normal, Samsung's performance is a bit...

The report analyzes that in the next 12 months, 44% of consumers are expected to buy smartphones, most of whom are upgrading their existing devices. It can be said that the Indian market will continue to grow in the future, and domestic brands must seize this opportunity to continuously expand their market share.
