Xinhua News Agency and Shanghai Radio and Television Station found that Shanghai's first batch of driverless taxis have been put in place in Lingang, and it is expected that field tests of driverless intelligent connected vehicles for ordinary citizens will be launched within the next week at the earliest. The test period is free of charge.

According to the testing company, it is expected that the first batch of 5 vehicles will be put into public testing, and new vehicles will follow in succession and the number of vehicle models will also increase. The transport capacity will be adjusted flexibly based on the performance after actual testing.

Public information shows that the mileage of autonomous driving test roads open in Shanghai has exceeded 2,000 kilometers, and the number of roads exceeds 1,000. However, self-driving taxis are still in the demonstration operation stage rather than fully unmanned commercial operation, so they are still equipped with safety officers.
