this seminar aims to deeply expand the new connotation of humanistic buddhism, explore the new process of sinicization of buddhism, excavate and summarize hubei’s historical experience, practical results and contemporary enlightenment in humanistic buddhism thought and buddhist education, promote research on humanistic buddhism thought, and systematically advance “hubei practice” of sinicization of religion in my country.

the seminar lasted for two days, with a total of six academic exchange seminars. more than 90 people, including experts and scholars from universities and research institutions such as nanjing university, henan university, hunan normal university, china buddhist academy, suzhou jiedang buddhist research institute, representatives of the buddhist community, and united front and folk cadres, focused on the theme of the conference and discussed various aspects of buddhism. we conducted lively academic exchanges on the development of sinicization, buddhist education of master taixu, the modern transformation of buddhism and the thought of humanistic buddhism, and the contemporary practice of humanistic buddhism. we submitted more than 30 papers to deeply explore the historical significance and practical value of humanistic buddhism. , explore the practical path of humanistic buddhism in the new era, strengthen theoretical support and enrich practical content for the systematic promotion of the "hubei practice" of the sinicization of buddhism in china.

experts and scholars attending the meeting believed that the idea of ​​humanistic buddhism was an important thought first initiated by master taixu in wuhan, hubei and written into the charter of the buddhist association of china. it reflects the subjective consciousness of the buddhist community to proactively adapt to social development, actively explore the path of practice, and have the courage to change itself. it is an important achievement of the sinicization of buddhism in modern times, it is also a powerful starting point and an effective way to systematically promote the sinicization of buddhism in my country in the new era. in recent years, the study of humanistic buddhism has received increasing support and attention from people from all walks of life including politics, religion, and academia. its research fields have been continuously expanded, its theories have been deepened, its methods have been enriched, and its perspectives have been constantly innovative. but at the same time, we must also see that the construction of contemporary humanistic buddhism ideas still faces many problems that need to be solved urgently. the construction of a perfect theory of humanistic buddhism is a long-term process that requires more experts, scholars and people in the buddhist community to participate and conduct in-depth research.

experts and scholars attending the meeting said that wuhan, hubei province is the birthplace and place of practice of master taixu’s humanistic buddhist thoughts. it has a unique position, rich resources and fruitful results in the research and practice of humanistic buddhist thoughts. in 1922, master taixu pioneered modern buddhist education and founded wuchang buddhist college, the first higher buddhist college in modern history in china, in wuhan, hubei. he gave the first lecture on "how to build humanistic buddhism" at the wuhan hankou chamber of commerce, officially proposed the concept of "humanistic buddhism", systematically elaborated on it, and carried out a series of exploratory practices, making important contributions to promoting the transformation of buddhism in modern china. the sinicization process of "zen qi huang" continued to write the chapter of the era of "wuchang xue". the wuchang buddhist college founded by master taixu led the reform of chinese buddhist education. the hankou buddhist zhengxin association became an important expression of lay buddhism. "hai chaoyin" and "zhengxin" opened up a new model of using periodicals and newspapers to promote buddhism. in recent years, hubei and wuhan have carried out a series of seminars and practical activities based on the thoughts of master taixu and humanistic buddhism, and achieved positive results. it is expected that hubei wuhan will further make good use of resources, give full play to its advantages, make overall plans, and make long-term achievements in the research and practice of humanistic buddhism in the new era, and continue to write a new chapter in the era of "wuchang xue".
