editor's note
"youth are the most sensitive barometer of the times. the responsibilities of the times are given to the youth, and the glory of the times belongs to the youth." general secretary xi jinping used vivid metaphors to send messages to the youth, profoundly clarifying that young people are imaginative and creative and are the driving force for innovation and entrepreneurship. vigorous. they may be ordinary, but they create the future with their smart minds; they may be immature, but they keep striving with dreams; they may have many failed experiences, but their desire to excel in life is getting stronger and stronger... …
starting today, the beijing youth daily will launch the "youth barometer" column, using integrated media reporting methods to closely interview a group of young people around you and me. perhaps some of their experiences can just reflect the opportunities and opportunities given by the times; perhaps a kind of spirit can be seen in the "little things" they have done, the "little tasks" they have completed, and the "little responsibilities" they have performed.
she has been based in taoranting park for more than ten years and has devoted herself to studying the water in the park. she participated in the research of self-developed water purification equipment to improve the quality of irrigation water and became a "recycled water research expert" in the park. in addition to water-related work, she also used taking the opportunity of the national day environment decoration, we built the only walk-in theme flower bed in the municipal park; we designed a trendy image ip to add more youthful elements to the park. her name is wang meng, and she is a senior engineer in the garden science and technology department of taoranting park. in her opinion, young people in the new era should be good at using wisdom and power to solve problems and create the future.
self-developed equipment purifies and regenerates water quality
as a "treasure park" in beijing's second ring road, taoranting park is dotted with pavilions and pavilions, a wide lake with rippling blue waves, and dotted with creeks and ponds.
wang meng, a beijing girl who grew up in nancheng as a child, has a special affection for this "dumen resort urban forest". she applied what she learned to her work and has been the person in charge of the park's water quality research project since 2016. she has conducted in-depth research on recycled water and has become the "recycled water research expert" in taoranting park.
"taoranting park is one of the first municipal parks to use recycled water as water for landscaping, and it has been more than 20 years ago. over time, some areas of the park green space have experienced soil compaction and reduced hydrophobicity, which has affected plant growth." before planting hydrangeas in a field on the flower street in the south line of the park, wang meng pointed to the hydrangea leaves and told a beijing youth daily reporter: "the hydrangea plants here have problems of varying degrees. some leaf tips and leaf edges have turned yellow and withered. . some are more serious, and the entire leaves have dried up and fallen off, affecting the viewing effect. "
"the recycled water used in park irrigation and green space comes from two sources - lake water and pipeline recycled water. the recycled water produced by the gaobeidian recycled water plant is directly transported to the park through pipelines and is called 'pipeline recycled water'. in addition to pipeline recycled water, park green space irrigation also uses lake water is used as a supplement." wang meng said that although the lake water source also comes from the south moat and gaobeidian recycled water plant, the quality of the lake water and recycled water are still different. for example, the ph and sodium content of lake water increase as temperatures rise. the continuous accumulation of salt has a great impact on soil water permeability. planting soil is prone to compaction, affecting the normal physiological activities of the root system.
in response to these problems, wang meng led a team to conduct investigations and eventually developed a set of deep purification equipment for irrigation water quality together with the science and technology r&d center of beijing drainage group.
at present, more than 90 parks in the city use recycled water for irrigation. wang meng hopes that her research project can provide help to more parks and scenic spots in need and contribute to the construction of a water-saving society in the capital.
decorate garden scenes to welcome national day
this year, beijing will comprehensively launch the construction of a garden city on the basis of the construction of a global forest city and the "city of thousand gardens". a number of exquisite small scenes and "small but beautiful" micro spaces will appear around citizens, adding color to the garden city.
as a landscape architect, wang meng has always cherished the dream of park design. in the past two years, she has taken on the task of decorating the park environment. the upcoming national day holiday coincides with the annual chrysanthemum cultural festival in taoranting park. wang meng created a rich garden scene in the park, relying on flower beds, flower borders, and landscape sketches to create new ip check-in points and beautify the city. "living room", be the designer of the garden city.
"in the inner square of the east gate of taoranting park, we have built the only walk-in themed flower bed among the 11 municipal parks. visitors can walk along the path into the flower bed to visit and take photos. 'you stand in the flower bed and enjoy the scenery "people looking at the scenery are also looking at you outside the flower bed. 'i try to use novel design methods to make tourists who enjoy the beautiful scenery become part of the flower bed, and enhance the experience between the flower bed landscape and tourists," wang meng said.
this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of new china, and it is also the year when the construction of garden cities was fully launched. this themed flower bed in the square inside the east gate of taoranting is the first garden scene that visitors see after entering the park. wang meng named it "flower yang". the flower bed is dominated by red streamers, symbolizing the glorious history of the communist party of china, and the red gene is passed down in taoranting park. mirror columns are embedded in the flower bed, reflecting the blue sky, green land and sea of flowers, integrating the sky and the earth.
in fact, wang meng had already "showed off her skills" as early as the haitang spring flower cultural festival held this spring. she opened an indoor bonsai exhibition in the house on the east side of qinxiangxuan on the north side of the northern square. nearly 30 palm-sized crabapple bonsais were displayed for the first time. there is only 100 square meters of exhibition space, but it creates a garden scene of "flowers blooming in bloom". as soon as it debuted, it became popular among young tourists.
"begonia is the 'one garden, one product' flower in taoranting park. every spring, the park holds the begonia spring flower cultural festival. this year is already the ninth. young people like to 'seek innovation and change'. although the lush ground-planted crabapples are everywhere, the whole garden creates a strong atmosphere of a sea of flowers, but i still want to find a new breakthrough to bring freshness to visitors and make everyone's eyes brighter. therefore, displaying miniature bonsai on the exhibition stand became my theme this year. a new attempt." wang meng remembered that during the haitang spring flower cultural festival, one of her friends came to see the exhibition, took close-ups of each bonsai, and posted the photos on the short video platform. in just half a day, received 34,000 likes.
design trendy ip to attract young people
at the turn of spring and summer this year, the “20 minutes in the park effect” quietly became popular on social media. as the backbone of young people in the park, wang meng has put a lot of thought into hoping that taoranting, a city park with a long history and profound heritage, will attract more young people to come here to enjoy a 20-minute "mental recharge."
the ecological landscape improvement project of the northern square of taoranting park is wang meng's proud work. she is responsible for the entire chain of work, from concept conception and program design to procurement, deployment, and construction organization. the original large-area paved square was reintegrated into an ecological green space landscape, and micro-topography, landscape stones, and plant-type garden green spaces were constructed to create a flower forest dominated by crabapples to enhance the landscape effect of the park.
especially at the edge of the newly built green space, wang meng dedicated about 500 square meters of display space to create a "unique" flower scene. she told a reporter from beiqing daily that flower borders are a form of planting in garden green spaces. they use groves and groups of trees as backgrounds to simulate the staggered growth of various flowers, shrubs, and flowers on the edge of woodlands in nature.
wang meng also put a lot of thought into the matching of flower varieties. she carefully selected nearly a hundred kinds of flowers and green plants to decorate the flower border, and divided them into five groups: strange appearance group, name connotation group, large family group, don't like flowers and only look at the leaves group, indispensable group... ...wang meng specially customized science popularization activities for this "unique" flower landscape. after the event recruitment was sent out, the venue was full. not only did it attract primary and secondary school students to sign up enthusiastically, but some office workers also joined in. they followed the children to explore the magical plants around them.
the children traced the plants and their growth characteristics they observed on the drawing paper stroke by stroke to form natural notes. during the upcoming national day holiday, wang meng integrated children's works into the flower landscape, which not only showcases the achievements of science popularization, but also adds youth elements to the park.
at the same time, wang meng also independently designed the image ip "taorantingli". among them, the word "ting" is replaced by the silhouette image of a pavilion, and its shape is taken from the iconic landscape "taoran pavilion" in the garden. the trendy design form is more youthful. wang meng also added the image ip to the flower border, and even planned to print it on canvas bags, cultural shirts, commemorative cups, and refrigerator stickers to make ip peripheral products to create her own unique design. beijing’s “park gift”.
