according to the official website of jiangsu normal university, the school is jointly built by the people's government of jiangsu province and the ministry of education. it is a high-level university construction university in jiangsu. the school was founded in wuxi, jiangsu province in 1952, and its first principal was lieutenant general liu xiansheng, who had outstanding military exploits. it moved north to xuzhou in 1958 and merged with xuzhou normal college in 1959 to form xuzhou normal college. in 1996, the school was renamed xuzhou normal university. in 1999, xuzhou industrial school, formerly affiliated to the ministry of coal, was merged into the school. in 2011, the school was renamed jiangsu normal university. there are currently 4 campuses in quanshan, yunlong, kuiyuan and jiawang, with more than 21,100 full-time undergraduate students, 6,772 doctoral and master's students, and 338 international students in academic education. since its establishment, the school has delivered more than 200,000 graduates to society.
