public information shows that zhao lankun was born in shenyang on july 18, 1909, and graduated from yenching university. in 1934, she married lian zhendong from tainan in beijing. after taiwan was liberated in 1945, she returned to taiwan with her husband and son lian zhan. since the "september 18th incident" in 1931, zhao lankun has not been able to return to her hometown in northeast china.

in february 2011, lien chan, then honorary chairman of the kuomintang, said at the liaoning-taiwan economic and trade cooperation forum that he was also half liaoningese. according to media reports, in october 2005, lien chan returned to his hometown on behalf of zhao lankun, where he had not been for 70 or 80 years, and visited his mother's old house and school. after returning, he reported to his mother and consoled her for her homesickness for 70 or 80 years.

zhao lankun passed away on april 17, 2011. lian zhan said at the memorial service that his mother and father lian zhendong were deeply hurt by the broken family and country. their lives almost covered the nearly 100 years of war and displacement in china, but his mother and father knew and cherished each other and established a happy, enviable and lovely family.
