focusing on the difficulties faced by the elderly in traveling and returning home, the city has started installing elevators in old buildings. after years of exploration, practice, summary and refinement, a set of replicable and popularizable "beijing experience" for installing elevators has been formed. the municipal housing and urban-rural development commission has also innovated its working methods, proposing "starting work once a household applies, confirming work once a certain proportion is reached, and starting work once consensus is reached."in order to further promote more old buildings to be equipped with elevators as much as possible, the municipal housing and urban-rural development commission has also launched an "elevator addition map" service platform.as of the end of august this year, the city has installed a total of 4,263 elevators, benefiting approximately 50,000 households.
